We enjoyed our stay at The Stable Studio.
Solva was the perfect location for our road trips and hikes in Pembrokeshire. The Stable Studio is a short (but relatively steep) walk from the harbour and majority of restaurants, but a few steps from the nearest pub serving meals. It is also a short walk from the nearest store for self-catering, and close to access points onto the coastal footpath.
The Stable Studio is in the enclosed garden at the rear of, and accessed through, the main property that provides B&B. It is sheltered from road noise and wind, and was exceptionally quiet at night. The bed and pillows were very comfortable and we slept very well.
The cottage is compact with a single bedroom/sitting room, galley kitchen, and small shower room. It is very well appointed with many kitchen gadgets that we never had time to use, plus modern dishwasher, fridge, grill/microwave and induction hob.
The TV offers Freeview, and we had fast and reliable internet. However, mobile phone signal is poor to non-existent.
The decor is contemporary, with extensive use of slate, good lighting, and a wood burner that would be lovely in winter. There are many nice works of art, and a comprehensive collection of books that I wish I had time to read.
Our hosts were welcoming and helpful but never intrusive. We had complete privacy, which made for a very relaxing stay. The garden is a sun trap in the late afternoon, and we enjoyed sitting outside after returning from a drive or hike.
There were no B&B guests during our stay. That meant we had the small garden to ourselves, and also sole use of the single parking bay on the "pavement" at the front of the house.
In summary, we really enjoyed our stay and would happily return. I have rated "only" four stars because of the limited parking and the small size of the kitchen and shower room.
The place Solva is beautiful, where it's located is far to much to see in a week, we toured as many little villages and coastal views as time would allow,Solva is a must see little fishing port with lovely pubs, shops and walks with spectacular views of blue/green sea!
The studio was once a pigsty and home to a donkey in the past in the grounds of Haroldston House (which is now a B&B) and has been converted into (as they advertise it - a studio) but I prefer to call it a cottage as it's a very traditional stone built single storey cute building from the outside.however it's full of modern 21 century tech and displays of Ians ( the owner ) artwork inside, even the clothes maiden was a replica 1950s one made from ash should you require one during your stay!! It's set in the rear garden of the house with its own lovely little garden with furniture, BBQ, and fresh herb garden all for our own use.
When Ian the owner showed us inside it really was amazing the amount of care and thought that they had put into the space, it really should win a prize !
I wrote in their visitors book on leaving and filled four pages and still could have said more so I won't be able to tell all in this review. Basically, it's an open plan living and eating area with a separate little galley kitchen and a rainshower in a beautiful wet room ! A must see
They had made us homemade yogurts, bread, honey plus fresh fruit and cereals and when they were cooking for B&B guests we found a little present of some for us to try!
They are big on being Eco friendly and provided plenty of Eco products for our use
We also had use of the lounge in The House if we wanted to with more thoughtful things at our disposal should we require ie umbrellas, a torch for walking down the lane at night, books, maps, and even a box with straightening irons etc !!
Like I say I really could go on and on bit you need to just go and see for yourself, you will love it here
We stayed for three superb nights in the newly appointed Stable Studio.
Our first impression was one of amazement - how can such a small space provide luxury and comfort to such a high standard? Ian and Maria have created an individual, bespoke oasis of calm.
It is sophisticated yet extremely practical offering everything you need to be completely self sufficient. However, the owners are always there to ensure you get the most out of your time in this beautiful part of the world.
The Stable is situated in the grounds of Haroldstone House B&B and is steps away from the coastal path and a short trot from local pubs and restaurants.
If you are ever in Solva don't hesitate to make a booking here.
