“Lovely accommodation, lovely location!”
Reviewed 12 July 2016 for a stay in April 2016

This old corner shop has been perfectly turned into a lovely accommodation.Very homely and clean, exactly what was wanted for a tour accomodation. The balcony was a blessing on a sunny night after returning from work to have supper alfresco with a nice cold wine or beer. A pub and a shop on the doorstep prove to be very useful. There were also lovely walks along the canals with stunning views and wildlife. The owner lived next door, she was always prepared to help but was never intrusive. There was also a home made cake left for us on arrival which was very delicious.

“Comfortable, clean, peaceful and convenient”
Reviewed 15 April 2016 for a stay in April 2016

We had a lovely break at The Old Corner Shop which has been beautifully converted and is well-presented, clean, comfortable and well-equipped in an unfussy style. The owner lives next door and was helpful and friendly but not intrusive. A fresh home made cake was left for us with tea and coffee making requisites. As you'd expect from a former shop, it is in the centre of the village with a fair bit of coming and going during the day but very peaceful in the evening at night. Convenience store, tea room and two pubs are within walking distance, both service good pub food but very sparse trade in the mid week. Pleasant waterside walks from the door. Just be aware that there are a few steps down or up to bedrooms and bathrooms, and the local church bell ringers did practice one evening but we didn't find it intrusive.

“A lovely place to stay”

Very Comfortable beds. Well equipped kitchen. The 2 sofa in the lounge were too low, would have preferred easy chairs so we could move them to watch TV. The village shops and pubs were good and the ladies enjoyed walking the nearby canal.
Overall an excellent holiday even with lousy weather.
Recommend the BISTRO 7 for very nice food in Welshpool (must reserve table)

This accommodation was perfect for us (3 adults, 1 baby). Very clean, all mod cons and modern deco throughout. We all felt very comfortable there and had a lovely stay. All essential immenities are a stones throw away and some extra! Stunning location, property is right next door to a large rocky stream which you can admire from the upstairs balcony. Heather the host was great, right next door if we ever needed her! We will definitely stay again :)

“A home away from home in a beautiful Welsh village!”
Reviewed 11 November 2014 for a stay in November 2014

This is a little gem of a cottage located in a perfect central location in the heart of the enchanting Berriew village. The cottage is in immaculate condition and really does contain every thing you need for a stay away from home. We travelled with my mum and brother and our 18 month daughter and there was plenty of room for us all. Heather was so helpful supplying a travel cot and high chair. The rooms are beautiful and it felt like you were staying in a hotel! I would certainly recommend this place. The surrounding area is just beautiful and the village itself has 2 good pubs plus a butchers, a spar, a deli/ cafe and a post office. Everything you need really!!

“Excellent accommodation in a lovely location”
Reviewed 16 August 2014 for a stay in August 2014

Impressed with the standard of the accommodation, everything you need is provided and is of top quality. Slept well!

We were a party of five adults (2 grown up children plus boyfriend) & therefore it was useful to have two proper bathrooms. Made great use of the peaceful sun terrace for breakfast and evening drinks and to look at the starry sky. Plenty of space for everyone in either the spacious kitchen, 2 bedrooms or living room.

The deli / cafe opposite is wonderful & there is a small Spa shop and two pubs less than 5 mins walk.

It is a beautiful area, the cottage is near a babbling river with plenty of walks nearby. We usually visit the Welsh coast but have been very impressed with the area and the places to see. We visited in August and were pleased to find it relatively quiet.

We were only on a 5 day break and would like to go back to do some proper walking. We visited Montgomery and its castle (free!), Powis Castle, Welshpool.
