My wife and I have eaten here on several occasions and the food is inconsistent. Some of the times half the menu seems to be off and what is left is poor. Other days it's all on and absolutely spot on.

We've stopped by here for lunch many times and it never fails to hit the spot.

Even though it's a Brains pub (we normally avoid chain restaurants) the food is wonderful and the portions are enormous!!! Sometimes a little too big, we've never had room for dessert :-(

One of the most delicious lunches I've ever had was here - when there was a venison Wellington on the specials menu.. It was so superb my mouth is watering now just thinking about it...

We recommend!

Very convenient location for the Sugar Loaf and easy to find (on A40). Very friendly and helpful staff. Good pub-style food. Renovated rooms, clean and modern look. Booking on their own website is cheaper than through internet/agents.

This is the second time i've stayed in this Inn and would stay here again.
After completing the south wales 3 peak trial, we arrived early evening, and as you can imagine ( after walking 8 hrs up and down mountains ) not lookign our best, but we were warmly greeted and not made to feel uncomfortable having a welcome back drink before going to our rooms to freshen up.
the rooms are not the biggest but are comfortable and have all the facilities of an hotel and the cup of tea on getting to our room was like nectar. The room was very clean and the bed was comfortable, with plenty of pillows.
There was 6 of us in the party and we all had a different evening meal. All of which was of outstanding quality with good size portions, so much so that i was unable to fit a pudding in! but others that had one said they were outstanding.
Service from the bar staff to the waitresses was friendly and efficient and nothing was too much trouble and It has a family air about it.
we will definately be back next year for the next challenge but maybe back sooner

On arrival we were greeted by Andrew who was very friendly and showed us to our room and explained everything very clearly. We freshened up and went downstairs to the restaurant for a meal, and what a meal it was, fantastic, well cooked and very tasty washed down with a nice bottle of wine. The food was excellent value. The staff are very friendly and attentive without being too intrusive. we had a lovely evening. Thanks to all the staff who made our stay so welcoming :0)

Visited on a number of occassions food is good but the restaurant service can be a little slow but the bar service is run ragged and makes up for it. The gammon I had was excellent there is ample parking and when I came to pay was given a voucher for an extra £10 off bonus.

This was our first overnight stay at The Lamb and Flag. We had eaten there the previous week, and were impressed by the friendly, helpful staff, and description of the accomodation, and the ample, free parking.
It lived up to our expectations... the room was comfortable with all the facilities to a good standard. The breakfast was really very good, as was the personal service, which made us feel really welcome.
The food in the bar/restaurant was very nice, well cooked, and of generous portions.
