“Disappointing”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 25 July 2013

Stayed here for 2 nights for a trip to climb Snowdon. The hotel was shabby and the room small. I was expecting more for the price paid. We ate in the hotel on the first night and the food was poor. Breakfast was fantastic though - obviously a different chef!!

We stayed at the hotel for one night and the owners very nice and helpful. Hotel has a lot of character being very old and the location is lovely. Located on a busy road, with amazing scenery but apart from the traffic in the day time ,very quiet and peaceful. Room and bar small but very clean and comfortable, meals in hotel , a bit pricey for what they are, breakfast very nice.

I was staying on a budget, so opted for the bunkhouse, £10 a night which is an absolute bargain. It's basic, but clean, has its own en suite. Just take your own sleeping bag and your sorted. Very quiet place.
Very secure bike storage.
Brilliant breakfast for less than £7 too.

Oh and a real good little bar and very nice meals in the restaurant.

Stayed here for 1 night in May. We were going to a wedding a couple of miles away and the owner, Adam, very kindly gave us a lift in his car rather than ordering a taxi, which we were very grateful for! Great location, very clean room and ensuite, a lovely rustic bar area for a couple of drinks and a cracking breakfast the following morning. There will no doubt be more expensive hotels in Betws-y-coed, but for this price bracket we were more than satisfied! Recommended

Have stayed at Elens Castle several times before and it was as good this time (May 2013) as before. The building is c300 years old which gives the place character. The owners, Adam and Helen, are extremely friendly and helpful, and the restaurant food is excellent.
This is an ideal base for touring, walking, golfing etc. Dolwydellan is on the valley railway line from Blaenau to Llandudno if you want to rest the car for a while. A picturesque village, it has Moel Siabod mountain as an imposing back-drop - if you like hiking, try it!

Will be back next year.

Very welcoming & friendly. Hotel and rooms are clean and tidy. The food is stunning, great value, plentiful, wholesome home cooking which is great after a day in the mountains. Would visit again for a holiday base in snowdonia national park and would recommend it to my friends.

Room Tip: Request Room 1 - spacious with views across the valley

Wales is wonderful for motorcycling (or cycling) and this is an excellent base. Perfect location to explore this area with wonderful roads and plenty of attractions to explore. The variety of room options including family room and bunkhouse means that there is accommodation to suit everyone. The food was great and Adam and Helen were both very friendly and helpful. It felt like 'home from home' after a good day out and we will definitely be going back!
