We had a wonderful welcome from Mr. Scourfield. Very warm and friendly atmosphere.
Accommodation was absolutely first class. Breakfast - Delicious each morning and Mr. & Mrs Scourfield had thought of everything. We didn't have to ask for a thing.
Our room and ensuite was warm exceptionally clean and comfortable. We will definitely go back if occasion arises.

An absolutely fantastic BnB hidden away in the south Welsh town of Blaenavon.
The owner Paul and his wife are of a warm and polite nature, full of local knowledge and history. There is much in terms of local attrctions from one of the world heritage sites, such as the big pit coal mine museum, which is free by the way.

Rooms at the oakfield are of adequate size and come attached with an ensuite toilet and shower. both of which are in excellent condition. They also posses a double room designed to occupy a larger family with a separate bathroom.
All rooms are well decorated with much thought put in the design and final touches.
The downstairs living room with sky tv is made available to all guests and has a very comfy feel.

The Full Breakfast is one of the best i have ever had and would urge the traveller to take a fancy as it Wont disappoint.

Availabilty for Off road parking is also a big plus.

Bad points are very few to none. I had spent some 6 weeks with them and did not have that "so far away from home" feeling. recommend highly to all ages.

Although considerably older than most who carry a backpack, we spent 2 night here and started a walk through parts of Wales from Blaenavon, ending up by renting a narrowboat and taking it up and back on the Mon and Brec Canal for a week. We also travel enough under normal circumstances to recognize and appreciate a quality place to stay. We were as comfortable here and enjoyed it more than in some 5 star hotels.

Friendly, attention to detail and considerate only begins to describe Paul. We showed up about 3 hours earlier than we had told him and no one was at the B&B. Paul was away in a larger town buying supplies. We called Paul and told him we were there. Told him that we would walk through the town, have lunch and return in a couple of hours. He suggested we put our packs over the fence in the back. While walking around a women on the street recognized we were strangers in this small town and started a conversation. The Welsh are incredibly friendly. While taking to the women, Paul drove up, suspecting that he could find the two Americans somewhere in the town, and drove us back to the B%B. The rest of the stay matched his opening move.

The path, to the Big Pit mine is a very close to the B&B and the 25 minute walk to the mine presents great views. Easy walk from the mine to the Ironworks and then to the World Heritage Center and then back to the B&B. The Butterfly is a great place for dinner.

We had a lovely welcome from Paul. The rooms and en-suite were beautiful and everything looked brand new throughout whole property. The decor was sympatheically mached and added to the ambience, making a very comfortable and welcoming place to stay. The breakfast was lovely.

Just spent three days in the lovely Oakfield B&B right in Blaenavon, tracking down my Welsh ancestors. My large room was spotless, beautifully furnished with a big, brand new ensuite bathroom and had views across the valley. Host Paul could not have been kinder, providing me with all sorts of information on how to go about exploring the local area and finding my roots. There's private parking to the rear of the property. The Big Pit is a great experience, especially for the kids, and it was fascinating for me to see the kind of lives my ancestors lived, down the mines. Lots of choice at breakfast, which was made to order. I recommend it wholeheartedly.
The gentlemen at the Heritage Museum in Blaenavon kindly provided all sorts of historical information, and the Blaenavon Library next to the museum is also very well resourced and the staff are very helpful. Browning Books in Broad Street is worth a visit, not only for its local interest and Welsh authors collection, but also for its exhibition of local artists' work.
