“Great Mabileau experience”

Maison Frederic Mabileau
Reviewed 13 October 2013

We had an excellent experience visiting the Mabileau location for a tasting. upon arrival, we discounted it since it has a "storefront" appearance. We quickly re-set our opinion as we had a lovely, patient host and very gracious and generous members of the Mabileau team continued to join the conversation.

Best news yet, Mabileau has determined a cost effective way for US residents to ship wine affordably!

Great afternoon tasting the wines of the Loire and this was my favourite. A small producer of some tip top wines.

We visited this in July 2013. A year before we went their also, than with my sister who lives in France with her French boyfriend. She recognized us immediately, very nice!

I'm torn about writing this review, as "Fred" (as he is called in our house) produces two of the most drinkable wines in the Loire valley. Added to the fact that the staff and the owners are charm personified, it's a great Château to visit. The rosé and the petit grande are fantastic everyday wines and punch way above their price point. The more expensive reds are ideal for winter drinking, particularly around Christmas.

Add to this the fact that Fred is one of the few people in the world who understands and hangs his Christmas tree the correct way up (point down) and he is unbeatable.

Friendly reception and very helpful introduction to wines. We went to buy some red St Nicholas de Bourgueil and came away with both red and white Chenin du Puy. We have been very pleased with the wines, particularly the white wine, on returning home and expect to visit the Maison Frederic Mabileau again before too long.
