Belle Isle Castle and Cottages

Stayed here for a long weekend and loved the cosy walled garden cottage. Had a very relaxing BBQ, nice view of the Gardens and entertained by the various animals. The cottage was very comfortable with well proportioned rooms and facilities. The kitchen was dated and decor a little tired but to be honest you could overlook it.

There's lots of nice walks to do and is remote enough to enjoy the countryside whilst reasonably close to towns.

The food was great, the staff friendly and helpful. Had a very nice fire in the drawing room every evening and were served tea and coffee there after dinner.

We celebrated our 30th wedding anniverary this year and wnated to invite approximately 25 members of close family to a weekend celebration. Having stayed in one of Belle Isle's Cottages in 2009 we had no hesitation in considering this venue as an ideal location. From the pre planning stage (availability, choice of menus for main event, extra accommodation and enthusiasm), to the actual event and feedback from all our close friends and family I would highly recommend this location. The setting is stunning, the Castle is set against a backdrop of Upper Lough Erne, and you have the added bonus of hiring boats for both fishing and viewing the local area. The accommodation is superb within the Castle itself and the courtyard, for this trip we "bagged" the Landseer Room and having stayed in a number of 5 star hotel rooms around the world, we could not find fault. We catered mostly for ourselves and found the kitchen and the main dining room facility very user friendly with lots of oven space (loved the double Aga) and a never ending supply of dishes, glasses, pots and pans. Our main celebration dinner was provided by Belle Isle, our menu had to be flexible as we had varied ages and tastes and this was no problem to them. The staff providing and serving the meal were efficient and friendly. The "green" aspect of Belle Isle is admirable and easy to deal with unless you have too many bottles - which we had!! I wish we were there now though as we loved it!

We had 11 people in our party so it was a good value. Each of the 5 children had their own room. The place is more of an English or Irish manor than a castle. Part of the castle is occupied by the proprietor/care-taker, but there was plenty of room in our section. The rooms are charming and warm with old-world elegance. It has a very big dining hall and the dinner we had fixed for us was great. We fixed our own food the rest of the time or ate out. Cooking in the Aga was interesting, the thing's always ready for cooking. There's lots of surrounding grounds to explore. The dairy farm was fun for the kids and we played a few sets on the tennis court. The boat ride piloted by the proprietor/care-taker was fun. If you have a large party, then you can't beat this place.

I recently stayed at Belleisle to celebrate my 40th birthday and cannot recommend this venue highly enough! The castle is stunningly beautiful, elegantly decorated and surprisingly affordable! We particularly enjoyed feasting in the very sumptous dining hall, complete with minstrel's gallery! If anything was going to ease my passage to middle age, this was it!

My husband, our son, and I stayed on Belle Isle at the Coach House for 5 days in June 2010. We are from New York, it was our first time in Northern Ireland, and we were very happy with our choice. We had slight trouble finding our way to the island initially - but the rest of the time was relaxing and peaceful. Sitting room and dining rooms are beautifully decorated with art and Irish style furniture, comfortable beds, huge bathrooms, and fully equipped kitchen: everything was spotless clean! It felt like a home away from home. Charles, the manager, is very nice and helpful in orienting us around Fermanagh. In afternoon we went on pleasant long walks with magnificent scenery. There is a lively town of Enniskillen within 10 minutes drive, where we went for dinners and shopping. We attended a day of a cookery class given by wonderful chef Liz. For our last night in Belle Isle, we had a barbecue in the courtyard. We immensely enjoyed our stay in Belle Isle, we will definitely come back in the future and possibly with a bigger group.

I stayed in the Courtyard with a few friends while attending a class at the cookery school. I was very impressed with the high quality of the teaching as well as the the overall accommodations. The staff was very helpful and friendly and the rooms were very clean and tastefully decorated. There was also plenty to do both around Belle Isle (boating, nice walks) as well as in the nearby town of Enniskillen (pubs and restaurants). I would recommend this hotel to anyone who is looking for a nice relaxing stay in a beautiful Irish countryside. Hopefully will be returning soon.
