Wattle Gully Retreat
Reviewed 25 June 2014

We have done a few farm stay style holidays now and this is by far the best so far. Great property. LOVELY friendly helpful people. Our 7 year old daughter had an amazing time. We stayed in the Beechtree cabin. Plenty big. Well furnished. All the amenities you need for a farm stay.

Don't expect 5 star. It's a farm stay. It it has all the things you need to keep it civilised and comfortable.

Room Tip: Beechtree cabin is perfect. The main farm house is amazing for a large group of people. We had a loo...

We stayed in the Beechtree cabin for the weekend with our two children. Very beautiful and peaceful location and lovely to sit on the verandah and look out at the trees. The kids loved being picked up in the morning in the ute to go and let the animals out and give them their breakfast. They also loved exploring the creek and taking the rainforest walk to the waterfall on the property.
We used the outside fire pit each afternoon to sit and relax outside on our picnic blanket.
Cabin was fairly basic but had everything we needed, including inside log fire - love the fact that you can bring your dog if you have one.
All in all a very lovely weekend, fabulous location to explore the Montville and Maleny areas.

I've stayed here quite a few times over the years, mostly with family (including children) and also on a girls weekend away. The accommodation quality is very basic, with plywood lined walls, dragging down what is referred to and priced as luxury, into a more middle of the range style of accommodation. For the pricing you can do alot better in this region eg The Narrows Escape. The view from the cottages is beautiful, looking out over a dam and it's not far into town for access to a wide range of restaurants and boutique stores.

We stayed in the Beechtree Cabin and it was beautiful. We woke up every morning with the sounds of birds and enjoyed sitting having breakfast on the veranda watching the wallabies, goats and scrub turkeys. The alpaca's, geese, ducks, chooks and guinea fowls were great as well. The owners and staff were lovely and friendly. We will be back. Thank you.

From the initial booking Rita could not have been more helpful. We arrived earlier than our book in time and this was not an issue and we were immediately made to feel at home. The cottage itself had everything we required and more, everything was so quaint and personal and it really felt like you were miles from everything, yet there was so much so close. Each morning John would collect us in his ute and take us to feed all the animals (horses, alpacas, goats, chickens and ducks) and the children especially were always more than involved and John really was a wonderful host and went more than out of his way to provide information on the animals. The horses were really well looked after and Ross who looked after the horses was such a lovely man and went above and beyond his call of duty and letting our little girls take ride after ride on the ponies. Rita provided wonderful recommendations on restaurants and also what to do with our children in the area, we were genuinely sad to leave Wattle Gully and are already discussing a return next year.

We took our 6 year old to Wattle Tree to feed animals and experience a slice of farm life. We stayed in the cute 1 room( bathroom separate) Rosegum Cabin. It was perfect for the 3 of us, toasty warm for our Winter getaway. The bush walk was spectacular and hosts were very helpful. They also organised a Dairy farm tour and horse riding for us. Nice little break!

The best thing about Wattle Gully are the hosts. Rita and John are very friendly and welcoming hosts, making sure our stay was comfortable. They provided many great recommendations regarding activities and food, and helped search for a lost item after our departure (that we eventually later discovered we had with us). The Rosegum cottage is a quaint and secluded cabin on the giant property with fantastic views in every direction. The cottage is well kept and clean, and has everything guests need to enjoy their stay (kitchen facilities, filtered drinking water, etc.).
