We stayed for a week 3rd to 10th August 2013 at Laga Bay. Apart from staying at a fabulous cottage overlooking Loch Sunart, we had a fantastic boat trip with Tom (and Dexter his black lab) from Ardnamurchan Charters. Starting at Laga Bay we went out to Cairns of Coll to see harbour porpoises, many seals, followed by 8 basking sharks, 2 Minke Whales and various birds, on the way to Muck. The weather was great and a lunch in the Cairns of Coll, with its turquoise blue clear waters and inquisitive seals was one of the highlights.
Andy (Tom's dad) also took us on an interesting trip up and down the Loch including Carna. If you fancy a great trip (either on the Loch or further afield), then we can't recommend Ardnamurchan Charters enough. Their large boat takes a dozen people, which means that you can chat to friendly Andy or Tom to learn much about the Peninsula and the Inner Hebrides.
Stunning part of world and great boat trips to be had.

We stayed for 4 nights on the Island of Carna. Although accommodation is quite basic, the views, wildlife, and boat trips make this a magical place to relax and unwind.
The boat trip to the Treshnish Isles was amazing, puffins galore on Lunga.
Andy and family are great. Dogs lovely too.

We all had a really fantastic time staying for the week in Laga Lodge. It was truly superb. This holiday had to be our best family fishing holiday ever. We have to give a very special thank you to Andy, Allison, Tom, Graeme et al and to Tag, Spider and Hendrix (the dogs) for making our stay so pleasurable. Lucy our Labrador is missing all the attention from her doggy friends. The location is spectacular, the scenery is just magical and Laga lodge is a really cosy and comfortable place to stay with all the home comforts you could ever need. The fishing on Loch Sunnart was absolutely superb. The pioneer boats are superb to fish from even in a choppy sea, exceptionally well equipped with everything you might need when out on the water, from safety equipment to deep water anchor. We also had 2 truly fantastic days fishing from Laurenca II with Graeme and Tom (Graeme next year we will get that Skate). The soup that Andy makes for the boat trips on Laurenca is truly delightful. If only I could get the recipe! The wildlife is also amazing from seeing the herons, eagles, Porpoises swimming right beside the pioneer boat and the otters running along the shore beside the pontoon - a truly spectacular sight. We cannot wait to return to Laga lodge next year. We loved the holiday so much that I booked it before we left. Robert has never stopped talking about his week’s holiday. It was definitely a very memorable week. Best wishes and we look forward to seeing you next October and if we can before then - Alasdair, Liz, Robert , Mary (Granny) and Lucy the dog woof woof

On Friday 19th August, towards the end of our holiday, we booked a boat trip to Tobermory, Mull with Ardnamurchan Charters. We spent about 3 hours exploring Tobermory and on the return journey we sought out any wildlife that was around. We saw porpoises and many seals. Sue and Tom were very friendly and accommodating. The trip was well worth the cost.

We took the all day trip from Laga Bay out to the Cairns of Coll then on to Muck. It was brilliant. Tom and Sue were friendly, hospitable and knowledgeable guides who were at pains to ensure everyone had a good time. We saw loads of wildlife at close quarters including minke whales, basking sharks, thousands of manx shearwaters, great skua, porpoises and others. The boat is spacious and comfortable and ideal for the job and although we went out on a beautiful flat calm day it was clear that in both boat and crew we were in safe hands.

(PS our daughters are no longer teenagers but the list of options on the trip advisor site didn't include one to describe our group and that seemed the nearest!).
