“Christmas menu "wow"!!!”
Review of The Anchor Inn

The Anchor Inn
Cuisines: British
Description: The Anchor Inn is a traditional Drovers Inn dating from 1888 and still retains a lot of its original features. Since purchasing the Anchor in 2006 we have made some positive changes whilst sticking with traditional Scottish pub values. The nautical theme has been kept and the open fire makes for cosy surroundings. We pride ourselves in creating a welcoming friendly atmosphere and serve draught beers, wines and spirits. In the kitchen our long serving chef provides you with an exciting menu to choose from and all our meat is sourced from the local butcher. If you are a Coleslaw fan then you really must try our chef's homemade recipe as it is locally renowned. At the outset of taking over the Inn we focused on building the accommodation side of things and thus now have a total of fourteen new rooms all except one are fully ensuite. They have been built to a highly modern standard and are tastefully decorated again with a nautical/Scottish theme. Six of these rooms command stunning views over the Gareloch and the surrounding mountains.

“Rather surprising!”
Reviewed 14 November 2012

A quaint, nautically themed Inn, overlooking the splendid Loch Lomond. We arrived late in the evening for an overnight say on business. A warm welcome greeted us on a wet and windy night which was greatly appreciated after a long day of traveling. The host was quick to show us to our rooms which were accessed by a slightly torturous path to an adjoining building. The rooms looked as if they had only just been newly appointed, and although slightly small, had a full sized double bed, large flat screen tv and tea/coffee making facilities and excellently decorated. The room contained an en-suite shower and toilet but a very small hand basin. The shower was electric with a good pressure and plenty warm enough. Talking of heat, the room was rather too warm for my liking and it was not possible to open the window. The only real criticism was that there was nowhere to set up a laptop. Overall very comfortable and the breakfast the following day was excellent, a full grill, toast and coffee was served piping hot.
As this Inn is close to our business area it is highly likely we will be using it again.
