“Another fabulous meal”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 12 November 2013 via mobile

This was our 2nd trip, our first was in August. When we knew we were returning to stay with friends in Auchterarder, this place was top of my list. As with out first visit, food was excellent, served beautifully and whilst not an extensive menu, there is something for everyone. I squeezed in a dessert even though i was full, i just couldn't miss out. We shall return again the next time we visit Scotland

Only after we'd booked did we discover that they had won all manner of awards and suchlike.

Yorkshiremen are carefu' wi' t' brass, and there is only so much value you can place on a plate of soup or slice of prime steak

Not so! It turns out that an outstanding chef can create a dish of soup that marches around your taste buds, giving each one a personal dash of flavour that combines to something complex, rich, and full of flavours that reawaken your palate to say "bring on some more"

We've eaten at places round about, and didn't expect such a top notch restaurant. The entire meal was faultless. My fish looked a wee bit lost on the plate. It wasn't. trust the chef. She/he had it to perfection, in both quantity, and quality was there in spades. The innocuous presentation hid a cornucopia of flavour and taste.

I had had enough. and yet.. when a final course of something sweet was on offer, I just had to try this chef's version of a crumble. Now, I claim to be something of a connoisseur of crumble. It is a dish which is a great classic - simple enough for anyone to make. SO simple, that most should be strangled at birth.
The delicate, understated description on the menu would have left me cold had I not already experienced the house standards. It was a triumph! Once again, the simplicity of the dish had been enhanced by a careful and considered choice of ingredients to lift both the base and the crumble to a new high.

As I said - how much is a plate of food worth? we all know what the ingredients cost.

Well, in half a century on three continents, I've only said this once before. "Whatever the bill turns out to be - it was worth it"

visit - enjoy.

Room Tip: I always say - choose a room with a roof. - damn silly questions by Trip Advisor.

One of our best finds for a long time!
An extra ordinary transformation of an old dated hotel to this cosy well presented place full of character. Stylish and charming staff, very pleasant hostess, full of attention and ready to please.
Very mouth watering well presented daily changing menus. Master Chef quality food, deserves stars. A must for us when travelling in the area.¨Price welll suited to quality of the menu. Have returned and will keeep going back.

Had lunch here on a Friday with family. Good buzz to the restaurant, helpful and attentive staff, good wines by the glass and excellent food. My wife found the venison sausages with kale, mash and gravy overly salty, but my cod with crispy rice was a delight. Finished off with a very good cheese selection, coffee and petit fours. We will be back!

A great place to stay to break a journey to the Western Isles or the Highlands. We have stayed here a couple of times and have found it to be a very comfortable place to stay - Room 1 especially. The cooking is first class and service excellent with well trained young staff. With Fabrice doing the cooking and Alison front of house they have a terrific combination and fully deserve all the awards and accolades that they have received. The friendly hands on approach of the owners is reflected by the staff and it all adds up to a first rate experience of dining and hospitality.

Room Tip: Room 1 - best room is fine. It does have one of these modern very deep baths ! Word of warning to pe...

We planned a last minute break up to scotland and organised the last night of the trip here after reading the guardian review of 'best destination restaurants in the UK'. It didn't disappoint.

Absolutely loved the ambiance in this restaurant, it just had that touch magic that is rare to find. Beautiful local art hanging on the walls. Good mix of locals and tourists. As big foodies, the quality of food was superb and an all round a great eat. The chef's love for food came through in abundance.

The rooms were fairly small and no bath but due to the age of the building. (it's been an inn for hundreds of years). But lovely nevertheless and the bed was literally the best bed we've stayed in, could have slept forever!

Keep up the good work, we'll definitely be back for another visit.
