We stayed there for a week in April for our parent's Golden Anniversary. House is very charming and very big for 8 of us. In fact, there was for 13 people so, we had plenty of space. There are 7 bedrooms in total, one double and one single room at ground floor. There are 5 bedrooms (1 double and 4 twins) on the first floor with separate 2 bathrooms. 2 Shower rooms are located at ground floor and second floor. So, if you are looking for en-suite, this is not an option for you. We love big kitchen with also had a big dining table in there, so we never used the another dinning table in hallway at all. House provides a good cooking equipment and lot of plates and dishes to use. After that dish washer will do all the work for you which is great. The house was built right next to the beach so, it was great for you to walk to the beach and enjoy sunset view in the evening. In fact, you will see a lovely view of Isle of Arran.
There is a table tennis in the basement for you to enjoy and having fun. The beach chairs were also kept here and you can use it on the beach if you like. The guests allows to use the cottage where was located about 200 meters away from the left of the house for picnic. But we have not found it useful for us as we enjoy the Saddell house.
However, there are some issues which we think the properties manager need to concern about. The first is washer and dryer, you have to take your laundry to the coach house where is next to the castle. Of course we do not mind to share with others but it would have been great if we have one in the house. I am sure the house is big enough to put the machine in the basement. We were lucky to have great weather for a week so, we hung out our laundry outside the house. But if someone do not worry about laundry, this could not been bother you.
The second point is heating system - you need to go down to the basement and turn it on every 2 hours if you want to keep the house warm. The 2 hours was all you can set it up and this was quite annoying us to keep doing this for a week.
The last one is media, there was no TV and DVD player to entertain you so, forget about movie night with your family. Unless you bring one with you or you have your own entertainment plan.
So far, we were happy with the house and enjoyed our time there. Thank you to Landmark Trust to work hard to keep the house in good condition.
