My wife and I stopped in for lunch at the Haugh hotel on our way home the other day. We should have know by the lack of people in the dining room it was not going to be a good experince. It was freezing cold and we had to leave our jackets on the whole time. AT one point I was shivering. NO one was seen for 10 minutes so finally I went behind the bar to look for someone to take our order. After another 5 minutes the server took our order - I ordered gammon steak and eggs. After 20 minutes she came back and said they had no eggs. I asked her if the gammon steak was almost done and if so then just add more chips. I could have driven to the next village to buy eggs and return and cook them faster than the service here. It was over 30 minutes later before we got our order and the food was as cold as the room. . AT this point we were the only two people in the restaurant (the other two left most of their food on their plate). A staff member went by a couple of times in her barefeet! We were never checked again for the meal and only after another trip behind the bar did I find someone to pay. This was one of the worst lunches we have ever had. When we left my wife told me the lights did not work in one washroom and no hot water in the other. I felt sorry for an older woman who came in and sat in the corner for about 10 mintues on her own until the server appeared from the back and yelled across the room "You OK over there" and returned behind the bar without even going over to serve her. Do not stop here for a meal on your way through Cromdale
