We have just spent a couple of nights at the Carfeamill as part of a wedding party... What a wonderful place!
A lovely homely hotel with food to die for, and all our needs looked after - nothing was too much trouble for the wonderful staff, especially Susan who made us feel so at home.
Beds a little too soft for us, but that's our problem!
Thank you so, so much for making us feel so welcome.
We hope to visit again.

Requiring rooms to house crew for an evening in the area, we booked out The Carfraemill.
What a wonderful place. The rooms are lovely, warm, and clean. The food was delicious, and all our needs catered for including a late dinner and a very early breakfast.

For lunch, we required off site catering, and the food provided by the team at Carfraemill was superb.

We felt incredibly well looked after and would recommend a night here or even to pop in for a meal or a pint at the bar.

If you are in this area, dont miss this wonderful local gem!

Room Tip: Room 9 has recently been refurbished and looks great! The bed is to die for!

We are frequent visitors at the lodge for morning coffee and egg and bacon rolls which are hard to beat. , Always welcoming and friendly, nothing is too much trouble for the staff .
Sunday lunch is always most enjoyable, to date ,we have found nothing to complain about. My great grand-daughter is always fussed over by the staff. Highly recommend to everyone to try.

Superb attention given to our annual dinner of about 50 guests- really good menu and all staff very friendly and helpful- the log fire just added to the atmosphere- my overnight stay was in room 9 - and my bed was extremely comfortable-loved the shortbread in the tin-bottled water also supplied together with all shower supplies-the room was well appointed and warm-the Lodge full breakfast was excellent and my friends and I were well looked after by Jo and Susan-after breakfast I had some time to kill so enjoyed reading my paper (ordered on arrival) and noticed the many guests arriving for morning coffee and bacon rolls etc who were well known to the staff-that has to be a plus-well worth a visit any time of the day

This is a lovely hotel. The staff are very pleasant, the restaurant food tasty and good value. The room seemed just fine with a well appointed bathroom but then we went to bed. What a dreadful night we had sleeping on a mattress that was lumpy and hard and sloped out wards so at any turn you nearly fell out of the bed.
I can only hope that we arrived just before the hotels new mattresses are delivered and if not, then I suggest they review the basic ask of the traveller....a comfortable nights sleep please.

We've been regulars here for a few years and would absolutely recommend the Carfraemill for a really, really good dinner. The staff are super and nothing is too much bother. You get a good, full plate of food that tastes great and is well presented and you don't leave hungry. Prices are good for freshly cooked courses and not pre-prepared, mass produced bought in stuff.
In the past we've pre-booked the private dining room for a large family meal and really enjoyed the experience.
We like the atmosphere in the place even when it's not busy. Worth booking in advance.

Was attending a function and staying overnight. Arrived in dismal weather after a long drive to a very warm welcome from all of the staff. The bar/ dining room was old school and the perfect antidote to ubiquitous " modern" hotel dining. Good selection of draught beers and spirits. I felt at home with the many locals who were popping in regularly. I was dining at the function but would gladly have eaten in the restaurant from the a la carte menu or the particularly appetising sounding specials. All produce is locally sourced with steak being a speciality. Whilst sitting at the bar I really enjoyed the vibe of the place.
Room very nice with proper antique bath large enough to have a real soak. Free wi fi, coloured TV.
At function had lamb carved at the table , no mean feat when catering for 160. Meat perfectly cooked and vegetables more interesting than the same old same old.
Grilled full Scottish breakfast a great way to start the day.
Susan and her staff doing a great job. At breakfast I spoke to some regulars from Sheffield who confirmed my views
