This was our first experience of the Maldives and what an experience. We have been bombarded, almost bullied into going to the Maldives by close friends and family who had run out of superlatives with praise for the Maldives and we were expecting something special. Usually with this much hype, disappointment is inevitable but this holiday didnt just live up to the justified hype , it exceeded all of our very high expectations 100 fold .

Seaplane Journey
Even after a 10 hour flight , the seaplane journey is almost worth the trip alone. This experience just made me feel alive and is the perfect tonic after 10 dreary hours in a tight plane seat. The views are breathtaking (make sure you sit on the left of the seaplane on the way out - better views).

Arrival
After a smooth landing in the sea we were greeted by magnificent morning sunshine over a golden sanded / turquoise sea / palm tree paradise which was probably the most beautiful landscape I have ever seen . Words will never be able to capture the emotion and spectacle of the moment which will live in my heart and memory forever.

Greeting
After the realisation of the arrival in 'actual paradise' we are given some relaxed polite instruction to make our way to reception to check in and our bags would be taken to our room in advance. The staff are beating bongos and singing to add to the magical genuine warmth that greets you and you know you are somewhere a little bit special. There is no rush or hurry , you are advised to sit in the bar and have a drink while your room is allocated , by this time i am fully relaxed and ready to soak up the beauty of these extraordinary surrounds .

The Beach Bungalow
Even though this is regarded as one of the better value types of accommodation on the island , it would be impossible to fault the magnificense of the location at the North of the small island . Soft golden sand is all that separates our temporary home from the calm, warm, snorkeling paradise that is the Indian Ocean. A detached personal haven for ultimate relaxation with a captivating sunset which is all yours to enjoy on your private terrace with the gentle lapping of tiny waves only feet away . This really feels like you are isolated and if you want privacy , this will feel like heaven. We were so happy and relaxed , we barely moved from our Bungalow for a week.

Meals
The meals are set at nice times so you can have a relaxed breakfast up to 10am and lunch upto 3pm and dine upto 10pm . The food was excellent with the pasta chef getting our vote as we initially laughed with ourselves saying with all this choice who will chose the pasta ? After a few experimental combinations we just loved the variety of the pasta dishes that blended well with our relaxed holiday vibe. But aside from pasta the meats and fish were equally succulent and exquisite that sometimes you just have to try them all on one plate.

Waiter
We have to make a special mention to Axhoulla , our waiter for the 2 weeks in the Bonthi , his clam , professional manner was a joy to behold and he never let our glasses run dry and was polite and courteous with a genuine warmth which was so refreshing , we really miss him .

Staff
There must be 2 staff to every holiday maker on Kuredu and as they scuttle around in the shaddows to make sure that the island is in pristine condition , cleaning the beach for seaweed and dead coral every day. There is always a toilet attendant present in the best toilets I have ever had the pleasure to attend. Another special mention to the palm tree 'surgeons' who cut you a fresh coconut is a beatiful touch.

Evaluation
I could go on for weeks about each individual 'special' experience that puts this holiday in a league of its own eg. the warm pool with gorgeous sea view , the quality inclusive draught beer , the way no one tries to sell you timeshares or excusions , the effort your room cleaner puts into making special patterns with the sheets, the overstaffed bars mean you never have to wait for a drink, the turtles , the dolphins, the snorkeling, the spa treatments , the boat trips, etc etc etc.
Please make your own mind up but my wife says I am generally very difficult to please but Kuredu made us both very happy.
Thank you Kuredu for the best holiday yet.

well after spending near on a year glued to this site checking every review i could find and viewing every photo i could find i feel i should post my honest opinion.. all i can say is when it comes to reviews really it is your own thoughs and options that count, we had a great time and there were some people there that we spoke to that didnt like the place but this was due to personal tast... so hear it gos

we flew with first choice out of manchester. we booked with first choice premier seats as it was our honeymoon we thought why not,,,, well might as well not have,,, there was no major beneift,,,, seats ok but no differant from normal cabin and the so called special meal selection was non exsistant ,, did get free drinks and a few extra films but if this is worth £400 overall i doubt it ,,, so save your cash i would say for a great trip on the island,,,, i cant speak for other airlines but first choice,,, no ,,, and to top it off we didnt even get our champaigne and chocolates that were bought as a present from our parents,.,,, anyway after a long 10 hour flight landed in Male which is an amazing sight on arival and greated at customs,, was quick in going through but after that WELL ---- we waited nearly 45 mins for cases after this we were put to a que for our isaland then sent to a que for the sea plane then sent to another que for the sea plane check in , then we went to the sea plane terminal,, due to a computer fault we wated nearly 2 hours,,, but thanks to the kuredu island lounge this made it a lot nicer for free drinks, fresh cold towels , ... our sea plane flight was really good and the sights are fab,, very noisly but fab took about 40 minutes, and you are packed in like a tin of sardines,,,, so take a pair of shorts if you can in your bag for when you get there, you will need them... we arrived to the island to be greated by our rep chancy and walked up to recepion to be greated by a islanders playing drums, we were given a nice refreshing towel and told about the isand and our room,..,,, we had requiested a O villa priro to leaving with a specific room number and were given one in our choice range, we got 325.;... after being checked in we took the long ( 15 mins ) walk to our room... room fantastic could not fault it, view fab no trees etc in fromt of room.. only downside was that for breckfast, lunch, dinner was a good 15 minute walk and beleive me in the 100 degree heat not the best across very soft sand.... anyway the water in front of the O villas is not the best very shallow at most it come to our kness and sometimes you wanted to swim due to heat but was nearly impossible , but there was always a few fish and sharks there. Also the room boy we had was excellent, twice a day they clean your room and a bottle of fresh water left fro you everyday, we only tipped at the end of our first week in thsi room and left him $20 he was over the moon. Whilst there we had teh O restraunt as our main dining area, can not complain about food, i am one of the most fussy people ever and this was nice,,, we only ate in komas once for luch and was ok, but the view from O was out of this world and on a evening it is lit up in the sea and you can see sharks feeding,,,, WOW.. the bar area hear was very relaxed and peacefull,, we did tip hear a few dollars as the bar men take your order and bring it to your seats and then even bring a refill before we asked,,, superb service,.... for the waiters we tipped ever 3 days about $10 -

we did venture to the main bar around pool and as mentioned byu a few other people this had more of a feel of spain then the maldives,,, people had been there all day, large groups drunk and rowdy,,, but away from hear peace....

we ate in francos and this was average,, to me not the best,, and quite pricy, however do get a take out pizzza ,,,mmmmmmm

during our stay we also did a resort dive,,, 3 dives in total ,,, this was good and worth the money and our instructor was fab,, seen some lovely sights and a manta,,downside hubby got a ear problem due to pressure and we were unable to complete the 3rd dive :-(

whilst there we also won a snorkle trip and we booked The Wall,.,,, this was not the most popular but due to time we took this and boy im glad we did, nice small group and went out on boat with Ludi,,, fab guy,,,, and again do tip the boat crew,,, we went to the wall and snorkled for about 30 minutes and i have never seen anything so prettly in all myu life,, fab--- i would recoommend this to anyone,,, we only did a half day trip about $40 each.... but we wish we relised these were available before as we would have done a few more due to poor snorkle condidtions around the isaland.

we also did the dream island trip,, again half day,,, 3 till about 7 - we were taken by boat and dropped off with a mobile and a picnic basket and spent all afternoon alone with noone else and seen the most amazing sunset,, very romantic and private place..

after our first week we staying in a water villa for the second week and must say these are fab,, the interior is not as good as the O villa but overall great,, well till a storm come and i was sure we were going to take off and sail away !!!!! this was $165 a night to upgrade from a O villa but we glad we did as we got the chance to spend time at the other end of the island and the sangu bar is just like O very relaxed and quite and fab staff and food well the same as O.. but i would say O has a better view and staff are more attentive, at sangu they are relaxed and our waiter Hamza was perfect,,,

Overall the holiday was fabulous and could not fault anything at all,, we did both get upset stomaches that lasted all of 1 day each i think this is to be expected anywhere you go due to change in climate and richness of food and the fact you eating stuff that you normally dont... but it didnt spoil our holiday ,, nothing a few holiday tummy tablets from Asda didnt fix 00 ((( really recommend these and take 2 boxes as you can use 1 box in a day )))

we also went to the O spa and had a 15 min welcom massage and this leaves you hooked... we did the signature massage and this was out of thsi word the girls there are very good at what they do and it is so relaxing we fell asleep,, we also done the full moon magic on our last night which is 2 hours and all i can say is wow and romantic,,,

only real let down to the island is the sea life there is not a great amt of fish to snorkle with at the island and if you are not a very confident swimmer then swimming to house reef can be a bit scary given the fact that boats and sea planes land there...

well i think i have rabbled on soo much and prob could go on more ...but anyway i hope anyone who is thinking of going just go,,, ignore the bad reviews and see for yourself, trust me i am fussy person and my husband is not the easiest personl to pleas and he was over teh moon with the whole place,,,

RECOMMENDATIONS

i would recommend that you take tea/coffee with you - we bought 3 in 1 packets from asda and 1 packet did 2 cups,,, as when youa re out ther is is $3.75 for 1 coffee sachet.

ensure you take all suncream with you as again very expensive.

also do try take your own snorkle gear, about £20 in sport shop as it is $70 for a snorle and mask out there not to mention the cost of flippers. our mask broke and it was $50 for a mask. you can hire them out there but this is more expensive then buyin in the UK.

if you want i would recommend taking some sort of snaks in your case, we took norhting and during day when you are a bit hungary we were eating biscuites but at $5 - $6 a packet again very expneisve and $5 for a packet of crips, i would tke some with me next time.

WELL I HOPE THIS LONG LONG REVIEW MIGHT HELP

ENJOY YA HOLIDAY, AS WE DID

X

PS IF YOU HAVE ALAP TOP TAKE IT WITH YOU AS IF YOU WANT TO EMAIL ETC THERE IS FREE INTERNET IN THE AKIRI BAR BUT IF NOT IT WILL COST YOU $15 FOR ABOUT 10 MINUTES ON A PC.. WE TOOK OUR LAPTOP AND GLAD WE DID, WE USED SKPYE TO CALL BACK HOME AT HALF THE PRICE OF A MOBILE OR CALL OUT THERE

We travelled to Kuredu Island for my husbands 40th birthday treat! The seaplane journey was as everyone describes - magnificent views that you only see on a picture postcard.

The island itself is one of the larger islands in the Maldives. We stayed in a jacuzzi beach villa number 152 on the nicer side of the island. The perfect white sands and turquiose waters were out of this world. However, the price to pay for being on this beautiful side of the island is that there are a lot of people passing by along the sea shore to walk along the gorgeous sand bank. Our room was lovely with an open air shower and a fenced garden area with the jacuzzi. Also a wrought iron four poster bed. The rooms were kept immaculate with clean towels and linen every day. We had no problems with the re-filling of tea and coffees.

This island is definately for first time visitors to Maldives. There is a selection of restaurants and bars to choose from, so you can have either noise or peace and quiet. Although our room was in the sangu area, only guests staying in the water villas were supposed to use the sangu restaurant, we were allocated the Koamas restaurant which was more than adequate with lovely service and food. We did speak with a waitor in the sangu restaurant who allowed us to eat there also (this was much closer to our room)so we had a choice of the two restaurants. All food is the same in the restaurants, we did however, find the service much more friendly in the Koamas.

The only down side of the holiday was the staff weren't as friendly and we felt that tipping gave you a much better service! This is a shame and did let the island down somewhat. But then we have stayed at Legends in Mauritius where the service is second to none, so there was no comparison in our opinion there.

Snorkelling is good at Kuredu. The guys at the snorkel centre are really good. I would advise the free snorkel course as soon in to the holiday as you can to find the best areas etc.

All in all the holiday was everything we could want. Relaxation with views to die for. If you are thinking of visiting the Maldives for the first time, you will not be disappointed. We will certainly return to the Maldives but next time will choose a more secluded island.

I've just read some of the reveiws and decided to add my own after reading the negative ones. We went with my my sister -in -law and husband. None of us had been to the Maldives before. We found that the service across the board was good and friendly. Tipping does help but you need not go over board. Food was some of the best we've had on holiday. My wife and I are returning in February 2010 and I hope that we will find nothing changed.

Kuredu was perfect for us - it was to celebrate our anniversary. A great holiday, relaxing, romantic and value for money. Above all, your in the Maldives - quite an experience.
The only issue being on arrival, we arrived in Male for about 3pm, our rep explained that we couldnt fly to the Island due to bad weather, both my husband and I were not impressed. Kuredu paid for us to stay at Hulehule Hotel, just near the airport, by the way the airport is literally set facing the ocean - great!!! The Hulehule hotel was not bad at all, however we just wanted to be at the Island we had paid for, especially because we were sooooooo TIRED! Next morning we were on a seaplane heading towards Kuredu, I really enjoyed the seaplane experience, the views are amazing. It was approx a 40min journey to Kuredu. Upon arrival we were greeted by our rep, a cold towel and a refreshing juice. We stayed at the Jacuzzi beach villa on the O resort, the villa was perfect and so was the jacuzzi which we made use of every evening. We were assigned the Koamas restaurant but tried every restaurant on the island. We really liked the O resort restaurant, simply because of the view! We stayed for 12 days and by the end of it we did get fed of having the same kind of food. We spent a lot of time at the spa's - the staff were exceptional and yes we kept returning and spending!!!! We had the honeymoon couple treatment which was bliss. After that we returned for plenty of massages and had a great experience of pure relaxation. For the last 3 days we upgraded to the Sangu Water Villa - glad we did. Great experience and enjoyed waking up to the ocean view. Make sure you go for the dolphin safari - the best experience ever!
I forgot to mention at the start, we did have a little tiff with the general manager - Chris, we debated the issue of having to spend out first night at a hotel which we didnt pay for, we fully accepted that it was down to bad weather but he simply couldnt understand and we didnt even get much of an apology. I think a small gesture would have kept us happy but Chris failed to understand. Chris really needs to attend 'customer service classes' however the rest of the staff made up for his poor service. On a final note - dont bother to take many clothes, bikini, one pair of flip flops, couple of shorts, vest tops, suncream, camera, book, mosquito spray (although we were bitten a few times, it wasnt that bad) To sum up - the island was wonderful and we just simply relaxed.................................
