“Charming cottage”
Reviewed 3 January 2017 for a stay in December 2016

We (my gf and I 27 and 28) stayed for three nights over New Years. The cottage is beautiful - much bigger, more airy and lighter than the photos indicate.

The cottage has brilliant facilities (plenty of hot water, cooking utensils and immaculately clean) and is in walking distance of at least five pubs (we spent NYE in the cock which was our favourite) but once inside the cottage we felt utterly secluded and at peace.

We enjoyed walks around Whaley Bridge and Castleton and Mam Tor which are easy to drive to. We ended our days snuggled by the wood burner - it really was a blissful three nights!

The Christmas tree and decorations were a lovely touch too.

“Quiet cottage yet close to town”
Reviewed 15 October 2016 for a stay in October 2016

We had a very enjoyable stay at Carr Cottage. The lemon drizzle cake and milk were very welcome when we arrived late at night! The cottage has low beams which my son in law hit his head on a few times but that is part of the character of the property!!! The driveway is accessible fairly easily but we were glad we only have a small car. It was lovely to be able to walk into Whaley Bridge from the cottage yet feel so secluded inside it. All in all a great place to stay and many lovely places to visit from it. Thanks Helen for all your prompt responses to my questions. Would like to make be visit another time. P.s. The wood burner was lovely and cosy too.

“Delightful and cosy cottage”
Reviewed 25 September 2016 for a stay in September 2016

The cottage was well furnished and clean. It is withing easy walk of pubs, shops and restaurants. There is parking off road which can be busy. There are walks from the front door into scenic countryside and there are easy bus and train connections; the bus services are good and friendly. There are plenty of books, children's games and DVDs if you need them.

Thank you for your review. I'm glad you enjoyed your stay at the cottage. In response to the negative points that you mention:

We do occasionally have a clutter of bins at the end of the drive after a collection, thanks to the council providing 3 per household! The drive can accommodate large family cars when the bins are properly organised.

We have now replaced the TV with a new, full HD model which provides freeview channels and a facility for catch-up TV on the main channels.

“Lovely Cosy Cottage!”
Reviewed 5 June 2016 for a stay in May 2016

Carr Cottage is a wonderful cosy cottage! Perfect for a family of 4. Everything was spotlessly clean and very comfortable. The cottage is well equipted and lots of extras provided too. For example books, games, DVDs, maps and local information etc.
The location is quiet and peaceful; the cottage is situated in easy reach of all the shops and restuarants in the village. Plenty of lovely walks in the surrounding area.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the cottage and hope to go back soon to further explore this beautiful part of the country.

“Beutiful cosy cottage.”
Reviewed 2 April 2016 for a stay in March 2016

What a gem of a place.
Very clean and has everything you need for a holiday. The log burner was lovely.
Plenty of walking from the house and also a trip to Lyme park.
Lots of eateries in the village so you will never have to cook.
Will be back soon.

“Perfect for a relaxed celebration with friends”
Reviewed 7 July 2015 for a stay in July 2015

So glad we found this beautiful cottage. Our stay was short, but the cottage facilities and the location would be perfect for a longer visit. We enjoyed spending time in the village and also loved our train journey to Disley. We had a great meal in The Cock on the Friday night, with staff friendly and helpful. All of the locals made us feel very welcome. Would highly recommend this cottage for a relaxed visit to Derbyshire.
