As longstanding champions of the nearby Boat House it was with a degree of trepidation that we veered from our old faithful, but well worth it.
Having booked for 5.30pm on a Saturday for four adults and two babies, the staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful in setting us up with our table, even making sure the kids meals came out before our starters (at our request).
In fairness the kids' pasta smelt delicious and I could have happily munched away on that, but our food was worth the brief wait.
Lots of options on the specials board as well as the regular menu, and all looked lovely.
At time of ordering I felt £10 for scallop starter might be a little steep, but when it turned up I realised how many scallops you got, which made it decent value for money (most starters were cheaper, I should stress).
For mains I had tuna loin with wasabe spinach and pak-choi - absolutely delicious, and not a flavour combo I have ever had before. It was top class, I was virtually licking the plate it was that good.
Similar stories from everyone round the table; menu a great mix of seafood and steaks.
Main courses were around the £15-£20 mark, which seemed fair value for the quality.
We still love the Old Boat House and will definitely be back there, but it now has some serious competition.
