Too the Bequia Express boat to Bequia we had a large old rusty boat going and it was really a rough ride over, coming back was a smaller boat, did they not think that cars and the same amount of people where going to return. We where crammed like sardines and we waited a long time in the rain for the boat the leave the harbour, so we where getting wet. Even though it was only an hour sailing the seats where so uncomfortable, even more so, as we where so squashed together.

But thats to be expected in the caribbean !!!!

The town is everything you would expect from the real Caribbean from the fruit sellers to the music at the bus stop - what more can I say just love it

Loved this gem of a Caribbean village! Walking along the boardwalk, watching the yachts come and go and stopping here and there for a ice cold beer was a relaxing day. It's the prettiest island village that I have been to.

The town had a buz about it and was quite noisy and dusty but there were some shops and it was the main port for Bequia where the ferries and catamarans docked at.

Port Elizabeth has everything you need to stock up your yacht or full the fridge in your villa (or probably even less poncy-sounding things).

It is, however, quite pricy. Knight's Trading is the most popular spot, and it's probably got most of what you need. Coffee, beer, pasta, condiments, basic toiletries, but they don't come cheap:
12EC for a small jar of instant coffee
6EC for a 275ml beer
45EC for a couple tough steaks

Doris's, which is on back street just to the left of Knight's, has much nicer food but at probably 2x what you'll pay for it in London and 3x-4x what you'd pay in middle America. It's a much nicer atmosphere, though, and there's air conditioning.

Parking in town is easy enough to come by, and driving generally feels very ad hoc. Other than one one-way street about which the locals are militant, everyone seems to have a fairly casual relationship with driving/parking rules.

My one key takeaway, because it really affected me, though, is that no one sells contact lens solution! Seriously, we asked everywhere, including the pharmacy.
