Long queue at the carvery with poor choice. Meat was luke warm and small portion (perhaps since it was 8pm on a Saturday night and they were running low?), vegetables well cooked but they had run out of carrots and the roast potatoes were burnt.
One of the customers ordered a coke which they forgot, only bringing it when they asked about coffee at the end of the meal. To be fair, they didn't charge for the coffee as an apology.
Most worrying was that one of the guests asked for boiled potatoes instead of steamed (health reasons) and was told this was not possible. They had requested the same every week for months and always received it so asked to speak to the Manager. He said that they never did boiled potatoes as they could only boil the gravy. Either he was lying today or they have served potentially harmful (to this particular person) for months and lied on those occasssions.
I do not expect them to serve 'off menu', but do expect them to say they can't rather than mislead customers.
Very cheap (£6 or so for a carvery, we had a 20% off voucher), but you get what you pay for.
