“Classy Auberge with superb food”
Reviewed 1 September 2013

We were sent to this Auberge as part of a package, cycling the P'Tit Train du Nord, and we were only sent because the normal auberge was full;. However this turned out to be a lucky accident for us. The I'lle de France is only a hundred meters or so from the cycle trail, and well signposted from it. It has about six rooms, each named and decorated for a different world city - we were in Marrakesh, with our friends in Mexico and Bali. The rooms were well-sized and clean, all with ensuites, intricately decorated. The host was friendly and exceptionall helpful, locking up our bikes and helping us with the baggages. The mattresses were firm and comfortable, and took away our aches from the day's ride.

Dinner came provided with our package, and was the Table d'Hote, which would have cost us $30 if we had paid for it separately. This got us a "Mise en Bouche", a "Plat Principale" (entree) and either an Entree (appetizer) or dessert. The Mise en Bouche (pea and carrot soup, intentionally lukewarm) was a glorious little intro to the main meal. Each course had four or five choices. I went for the Terrine de Wapiti (elk), which was coarse and delicious, and a duck leg which was perfectly cooked. My wife's pork medallions we also well flavoured, and there wasn't a dud dish on the menu. We split a bottle of excellent Bordeaux at $35.

Breakfast the next day was well up to the same standard, with home made croissant, your choice of eggs and fresh fruit.

I would visit this auberge again in a heartbeat, and I recommend it to anyone.

Strangely the choice of music was soft jazz versions of 70s rock classics - Pink Floyd, Fleetwood Mac, Led Zeppelin - but not enough to intrude iof you didn't like them.

Stayed at this hotel while visiting some friends who have a summer house in the region. From our arrival to our departure all was excellent. the owner was at the hotel to greet us (me, my wife and our 16 month old baby) when we arrive around 10PM on Saturday night and was there during the breakfast early in the morning. The rooms have all a different country team, we had pictures of palm trees in the room which seemed as if we were somewhere exotic. I would definitely stay here again on my next trip there.

As with other reviews, Nominingue is the common first stop on the P'Tit Train du Nord cycle path.
We had travelled the 54km through many cloudbursts of rain on this day and we looked like a couple of dogs who had just been for a swim, only problem being we could not shake the wetness from our bodies. Instead we headed for the shower which was very welcoming with its hot water and forceful shower head. Phillippe offered to have our wet clothes cleaned and dried for us and provided us with newspaper to stuff in our shoes to soak up the water..this was very nice of him. As mentioned there is a garage where you store your bikes overnight. Our dinner that night was excellent, my wife had the salmon and the steak for myself. For breakfast, Phillippe gave us a voucher for a cafe up the street since we were the only ones spending the night on this occasion. This was a little disappointing as the cafe served your typical Canadian breakfast - eggs, potatoes, a meat and toast. The food was very good though. We stayed in the Abidjan room which was very spacious.

Stayed here after first day of cycling Le Petit Trein du Nord bike trail. Although only 25 miles from our start in Mont Laurier, we had been riding the entire distance in the rain. We entered the inn (approx 100 yards from the trail) and immediately felt the warmth. After a much needed hot shower I had a beer and relaxed until an amazing dinner of French food and wine in the inn's first floor restaurant. Our room was large, comfortable and just perfect. The woman on duty (sorry I don't know her name) offered to wash our soaked and dirty cycling clothes. This was above and beyond anything I expected. She was charming and genuinely interested in our comfort. This place was fabulous. Thank you.

This bed and breakfast is located very close to the P'tit Train du Nord bike path and has a large shed to lock up your bikes overnight. It's a well-cared for establishment with a lovely front porch full of flowers. There is a small reception area and the rooms are all upstairs. The theme rooms are charming. I stayed in Paris which is one of the smaller rooms but still very comfortable and with modern conveniences. The bathroom was a nice size - lots of counter space and a corner shower with great water pressure. So nice after a long bike ride! There are larger rooms and at least one two room suite with a trundle bed in the second room which works well for children. Philippe is a gracious host and served us wine on the porch. The dining room is open to public for dinner and appears very popular. For good reason: the food was excellent. My dad said the seafood chowder was one of the best things he has eaten in a long time. I had a delicious steak au poivre. One note I might add is that the restaurant is not really for very young children. They were very accommodating to the young ones in our group but it's just a more upscale place with fine cuisine and not really for little kids. Breakfast was more low-key, with fresh baked breads and croissants, fruit cups, and eggs cooked to order with bacon. A good start for a day on the trail. Overall, this is a very comfortable, clean, welcoming place to stay with great food and service that's very convenient to the bike path.

This was our first night on the 'p'tit train du nord' bicycle trip. We were so tired by the time we arrived and the hot powerful shower was very welcome. The rooms are really lovely. They have been themed to different cities and countries, we stayed in México but got to see some of the other rooms. The negative about the room is that it is by the road so you do hear the cars, also we had 3 unwelcome mosquitos. It took a while to figure out where they were coming from until we discovered that the bathroom window was open with no screen! the positive - very clean (and I am a stickler for clean) so very comfortable, you can hear the relaxing music from the dining room wafting up. the owner has travelled to all the locations where he themed the rooms so the items in the room are authentic.
best of all was the dinner. it was 5 courses and every single thing was delicious (with a lot of choice), served in a lovely dining room.
highly recommend this place as a stop off during the ptit train de nord cycle trip.

This was our first night stay on the P'tit Train du Nord and it proved to be a great start to the trip. The inn is an easy location, right next to the bike path. Philippe, our host, made us feel quite welcome and comfortable, as he proudly showed us all his wood carving skills and decorating details to the theme rooms in the inn. We stayed in the Shanghai room and our friends were in Paris. Both rooms were clean and comfortable. Great showers too! It was very convenient that they served dinner as well, since Nominingue is small and there didn't seem to be many places other than the inn to dine. Both the dinner that night and the breakfast the next morning were excellent. The dinner was the best of our trip.
