“Can it get any better? I don't think so!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 4 August 2013

Stayed for 4 nights back in early July at this perfect B&B. Everything was just faultless. Our hosts made us feel like old friends from the minute we arrived. The food was out of this world and the evening meals were verging on fine dining, breakfast was freshly cooked and you have to try the homemade sausages. Everything was very clean and so tastefully complimented this super old house. We are I the industry ourselves and have been for a number of years, you honestly do not find many places like this. We will be returning soon.

Room Tip: We had the Emperor Sweet, it was perfect.

We've recently had the pleasure of a two night stay with Rod & Moyra and were delighted with the quality of their home and warmth of their hospitality. Although only a brief stay, their care and attention made us feel like long lost relatives. The food was superb and the house itself is quite incredible. We had the room with the emperor sized bed which truly is enormous. The quality of this B&B shines through in the details like quality of sheets and towels - all first class! This is a lovely business and deserves to thrive - if you are staying in this area then we can't recommend it enough!

We have just returned from a 2 night stay at Hazlefield House and most of the comments already left, cover what I wanted to say about Rod and Moyra. From a warm welcome on Friday to a friendly farewell on Sunday, we received the kind of personal and attentive service never experienced at a B&B by ourselves before. Beautiful property in a stunning location , nice bedrooms and great cooking, not just the breakfast using local and home made ingredients but also the evening meals which are a welcome option and are worthy of a top class restaurant . We will definitely be staying again sometime soon and sooner the better. If you are in the area, stay here. If you're not, then get over there :-)

My wife and I stayed in 20 different B&B's in the UK over a 4-week period, and Moyra and Rod's was the best by far. Everything you'll read in other reviews on here about the house, the hospitality, the location and the food is true - everyone should stay here at least once!

Sadly we could only manage one night in the company of Moyra and Rod in their wonderful home but no doubt about it we'll be back! The house itself, the garden and the view set the scene as you arrive and on being welcomed into the house it was clear this was no ordinary B&B. The warm welcome from our hosts with cakes and tea in the lounge, their nothing is too much trouble approach, the quality and cleanliness of the house and most of all the attention to detail made the whole experience an absolute pleasure. We stayed in for dinner and it was of excellent quality and value in a pleasant and relaxing atmosphere. Meanwhile the quality of the cooked breakfast was second to none with home and locally sourced ingredients from the eggs and honey through to the sausage or Salmon. I could go on but point made if you're in the area and looking for a B&B don't hesitate or prevaricate Moyra and Rod will look after you with an attention to detail that quality hotels can only dream of.

We much enjoyed our three night stay at Hazlefield House. The quality and attention to detail was just excellent. The evening meals were particularly appetizing and as for the breakfast it kept us going all day! The secluded location is fabulous with distant views over the Solway Firth towards the Lake District. Moyra and Rod were perfect hosts making us very welcome and relaxed. Recommend the Emperor Room in particular. Hazlefield is one of the best B&B we have ever stayed in.

Room Tip: All the rooms are very good, but try the Emperor.

We have now stayed twice in the Emperor room at Hazlefield House and will most certainly return. Moyra and Rod offer the perfect balance of features and comfort, resulting in utterly relaxed, unpretentious yet quality accommodation. Their food also meets these standards and, without exception, has been most enjoyable. There is nothing here that can be improved upon - we only worry that Moyra will exhaust herself maintaining the high standards she has set, in addition to the generous amount of time given to her guests!
