Wonderful room, breakfast, supper and welcome for our dog; every detail was perfect. The location is glorious and the walking country is dramatic yet tranquil. Breakfast was divine, and certainly fuelled a day's walking, and many a Michelin-starred restaurant has failed to compare to the delicious supper.

I booked this hotel as a place to celebrate our first wedding anniversary. A bit of luxury for a special occasion. I found the staff professional and attentive without being intrusive. Despite it's relaxed warm atmosphere, attention to detail was excellent. Lots of wee touches that made us feel a bit spoiled. All food made on premises from good quality ingredients. Delicious!!! Champagne, flowers and chocolates included in the package we booked, were of a high standard and not cheap naff quality that I have experienced elsewhere. A very nice addition which we both appreciated. Cleaners do an excellent job, as despite numerous people having their dogs with them, there was no odour in the communal areas or our bedroom and no hair on carpets or furnishings. I'm sure if your out to find fault and nit pick you'll be able to complain about something, but for us, we found it a perfect place to relax and escape for a romantic couple of days. This was our first visit, but will definitely won't be our last, and despite only being away a few hours, have already recommended it to many friends and family members. Well done to the owners and staff. The hotel is a credit to you.

This was our 4th time staying at the Trigony House Hotel. If you have a dog this is the place to go. Very doggy friendly. I have been to other hotels that are supposed to be dog friendly until to get there and discover the only place your dog is allowed is your bedroom. This experience has put me of other hotels as my dog cried when we left him. Trigony is totally different. The only place your dog is not allowed is the restaurant but you can take them into the bar where the food is fantastic all locally produced. The grounds are beautiful and there are plenty of maps for walkers. Our dog Rory got his sausage every morning when we came down for breakfast. The staff cant do enough for you. They provide doggy bags, biscuits and clean towels and soapy water if your dog needs a wash after his walk. We have met some lovely guests when we have stayed. On one of our visits the hotel was booked out for a wedding. We were made so welcome that I didnt want to go home as i felt part of the wedding party. That wedding had 3 dogs in attendance so it was ideal for a small family wedding of dog lovers. There is a small quaint town nearby called Thornhill i like to brouse around. We use Trigony as a place to go and have a good rest. It is only an hours drive from the lake district. Cant wait to go back.

Trigony House was our base to explore the Dumfries and Galloway area. The rooms were comfortable, quiet and clean with great views. The owners and staff were friendly and helpful - they gave great advice on local attractions. But above all, the food is delicious.

We stayed for a long weekend on a DBB rate. The setting is beautiful, with small but perfectly kept gardens with tables and chairs if you fancied your breakfast al fresco. Their food is a big draw even if the Haggis and potato starter didn't make the menu while we stayed! Breakfasts were excellent with everything you would expect, and the mushroom coming in a creamy sauce was a surprise (good one!)

We also booked a bird of prey experience and that proved the highlight of the stay, 4 hours of learning about the magnificent owls, hawks, eagle and vulture with the glove on to encourage them to land on your arm! walking the hawk through a local woodland path is a great memory. All done in the gardens so all we had to do was wake up - enjoy breakfast and go outside.

As a location I believe this part of the world is under-discovered and a treat to explore. if you have the time for a drive, get out to the west coast - Port Patrick is a picture postcard waiting to happen

A five star welcome with the lovely wood burning fire in the lounge to a large spacious bedroom, crisp good quality sheets to plenty of large fluffy towels. Breakfast was a treat, hot plates, home made bread with good scrambled eggs ( so easy to get wrong ) so it seems but not in this establishment, quality bacon and sausages and wild mushrooms.. Nothing was too much trouble. Perfect location, fabulous walks and our dogs were catered for in every way to a welcome goody bag, towels supplied for them after our walk. Dinner another culinary delight. Trigony House is a stress free zone, we leave withe many good memories and are looking forward to our next visit.

We stayed for 3 nights and when we arrived we received a very warm welcome from the owner. He was very friendly and showed us to our room and also served us drinks in the bar and in the small lounge. The bar is set out more for dining than comfy seating.

Our room was small but immaculately clean and tastefully furnished. The bathroom was quite large with lovely toiletries provided. The hotel too felt really clean and cosy. No doggy smells at all. Beautiful gardens.

Our meals each evening were excellent. Beautifully cooked and presented. The menu offered a lovely choice of dishes. The wine list was fine but a Pinot Grigio by the glass would be nice. The owners and staff were exceptional - very friendly and efficient. Breakfasts, however, were a little inconsistent when the owner wasn't cooking. Excellent quality but quantities of items changed. The young man taking breakfast orders and serving on those mornings didn't appear very organised. We had a long wait for cereals so we thought to get your own if set out in the room would be better. We also didn't particularly like the teas served.

The atmosphere in the hotel is very relaxing and we enjoyed chatting in the lounge one evening to two couples and their dogs. We no longer have a dog and so enjoyed this. We did, however, feel that dogs should not be left in bedrooms to bark etc obviously at being left in a strange place whilst their owners enjoy their breakfast. We found this very irritating and felt is unfair to other people staying. The bar area is available for people having meals who have dogs.

We really enjoyed our stay but felt that selfish dog owners are spoiling a lovely hotel. We hope to return in the future.
