Ardrossan is not much of a place, but the location of this apartment is wonderful for access to the ferry to Arran, train to Glasgow and elsewhere, roads to the Ayrshire coast as well as having a supermarket and petrol station, all within a few hundred yards. Lovely view over the Marina.
Our flat in Ardrossan had a marvellous view of the marina. It was very clean, reasonablly well equiped (no potato peeler) and the landlord Tony was very friendly and helpful. Slight snag - took aging dad not realising he would have to go up 32 steps to second floor, but he made it ok. There is no lift. Not much in Ardrossan itself except our view and a good Italian restaurant. But there was plenty to see and do round about. Ferry across to Arran was dear if you take a car. Culzean Castle beautiful - could be a whole day out. Waverley steam paddle boat trip was charming but we didn't get close to Ailsa Craig to see the seabirds, so if you are a keen birder, check before you go - we may have skipped it cos we were running a bit late. would definitely racommend this flat as a jumping off point for exploring the area.
Apartment is clean and spacious. Seperate rooms make it ideal for families with young kid(s). Cot was provided. Great area of town which is close to the ferry to Arran, great fish and chips, Chinese, Indian and Italian food. Short walk to South Beach which has a great playground. There is also an Asda minutes away.
Thanks Tony and Anna!!
A great location in a quiet village in coastal Ayrshire. A basic, comfortable 2 bedroom apartment giving everyone their own space, yet allowing "family time" in a homey setting. Easy walking distance to groceries and/or restaurants, marina access, and ferry to Arran. Tony, the owner was great and very easy to contact.
