“Special celebration cancelled”
Reviewed 18 March 2014 via mobile

My brother and his wife booked this venue for their silver wedding a few months ago along with several rooms. This was for the month of September. He got a phone call yesterday to say they had a better offer I.e. booking for The Ryder Cup. So their booking is now cancelled. What a way to do business. Please make a note for this could happen to you. Stay clear of the Carberry Tower not a place to be recommended. Shocking treatment.couldnt rate it but won't allow to submit otherwise. Give one star but really want to rate it zero.Same applies to month I visited but again was going in September but will never set foot in the place.

We were passed a voucher for two nights dinner, bed and breakfast by a relative who won it in a raffle. Unfairly we didn't have high hopes as the reviews are quite mixed. Turned out we were only guests in hotel. Made to feel like we had a gorgeous stately home all to ourselves. Felt comfortable to explore the amazing building, rooms and grounds. First night they kindly set up a lovely little room for some private dining. Food was pretty faultless. Where staff could have been awkward they were the right level of friendly and kindly printed out info on things to do in local area.
All we wanted was somewhere to put our heads down and relax - perfect. My guess is a busy wedding weekend may offer a different experience but we can't fault ours (we stayed Sunday and Monday nights).
Only negative is our room didn't pick up the wifi - given we were only guests we (very cheekily!) remarked to each other that a suite upgrade would have been good.
Will happily go back (and this time pay for it!)

Our daughter was married at Carberry Tower in February 2014 and I would like to share with everyone what a magical place this is. They had booked the house exclusively for the whole weekend and guests travelled from all over Scotland and Ireland to celebrate. Carberry tower did us all proud. The rooms are lovely although compact (the suites are extra special - very spacious and opulent, so book one of them if you can). The food is wonderful, we had an informal buffet on the Friday night which was very filling and tasty and you could have as much as you wanted - very reasonably priced too. The wedding meal was delicious and very well presented. Not always easy when you're catering for 150! The staff were all very helpful and polite and I would like to say special thanks to Stacey the wedding organiser and also Ken who ran the wedding on the day - these two really made a difference to the day - many thanks.

Carbery Tower is not cheap but for Edinburgh prices it's what you would expect to pay and at the end of the day you only get what you pay for. Well worth the money.

This is a beautiful old building, steeped in history in a beautiful setting - perfect for a wedding or simply to treat yourselves to a short break. The property has been fully refurbished to a very high standard combining comfort with luxury and tradition making the most of the original features of the house.

Hope to return again one day. Well done to all at Carberry and many thanks

Room Tip: Book a suite if you can - they cost more but the difference between the suites and the standard room...

We stayed at Carberry Tower before this visit and loved our experience, so when we saw a special offer, we were quick to take it. The staff were just as wonderful and the place is just amazing, from the cavernous music room and library to the extensive grounds.

However, though the room was nice but absolutely tiny (Room 302), as well as the bathroom –- during our previous stay the room was twice as large at least. So that was a bit disappointing, when we knew what was in the room exactly next-door!

Despite this, our experience was lovely. The staff prepared a four-course Dining Experience, including canapes and prosecco prior to the meal. Just delightful. And there were three other couples. We were all ushered into a lovely dining hall with lit candelabras. There, we were served delicious dishes in succession. After the meal, we moved to another room for teas and coffees. We were lucky because we had an engaging group, interested in good conversation. A truly enjoyable evening!

We will definitely go back to Carberry when we have another opportunity!

Room Tip: Don't choose Room 302!

We are absolutely over the moon with Carberry Tower.

I planned the majority of the wedding from Canada, and even by email the staff were so supportive and accommodating, and was surprisingly affordable for such an incredible venue!

All the details were taken care of and the manager, John, was always by our side to make sure everything ran perfectly. When we ran outside to catch the last light for our photographs in the majestic pond and bridge at the back of the property, John was close behind with my wrap and our drinks! What service!

We stayed in a suite the first night big enough for all the ladies to get ready the morning of, and the honeymoon suite was so beautiful, we were so sad to leave. All our wedding guests were happy with their accommodation.

The food on both the meal the night before, the wedding breakfast, and evening finger and fork buffet was outstanding. We could not recommend Carberry Tower any higher for both a wedding/event venue or as a getaway.

Thank you to all the wonderful staff who made our day so perfect. We can't wait to come back!

Room Tip: Castle rooms are beautiful, but Lodges are equally lovely at a fraction of the price, and not a 2 mi...

We stayed a night in the Carberry Tower courtesy of our daughters who treated us to a night DB&B as a Christmas gift.
We were made to feel very welcome when we arrived and at all times during our stay ! Lovely room - comfortable bed and quality linen ! Dinner was excellent and the wine was very reasonably priced. What a spectacular building - lots of history and we would love to go back !

We went to Carberry for my sister's wedding in January 2014 all the way from Canada. We were so impressed with the entire experience! The castle itself was beautiful and well maintained. Every room had more character than the last, from the function rooms such as the "hobbit" room or the whisky room to the suites! There were also modern aspects such as renovated washrooms which were a fancy touch. The grounds were beautiful with a large old tree and a lovely bridge in the back-perfect for a walk or photo's of the wedding party/bride and groom. The staff were friendly and helpful, and made sure that all aspects of the wedding went smoothly and that the bride and groom could focus on their big day! As well, every meal we had was absolutely delicious and had lovely presentation. This place is perfect for a wedding or a weekend away.

Room Tip: The Princess Margaret Suite was incredible!
