“A very Happy New Year it was too”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 3 January 2014

Have visited Ian Browns on several occasions - it is a firm family favourite and it never fails to deliver. We booked New Years Eve dinner and based on this most recent visit will certainly be back next year. Unlike most other restaurants at this time of year the 3-course menu was varied with plenty of choice -no standard Christmas food here. Family run the staff are always cheerful and friendly. Our favourite Glasgow restaurant by far.

“Tis the season (ing)”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 21 December 2013

We had the festive menu. The choice, service and value was excellent. Most of the food was very good too, except for the seasoning. Those in our party who had the haggis thought it was bland, and those that had the risotto said it needed seasoned. That apart no complaints.

“A few small points, but very good”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 12 December 2013

We had the set menu. The parsnip soup was a little under seasoned but the beef stovies were excellent. Chicken leg and vegetable stew with Ham hough were fabulous, but the salmon tart was too dry. The chocolate mousse was too loose and the satsuma sauce got lost in the mix.
Would love to try the more extensive menu for dinner. Very impressed. Great service and good value, and it's local.

“back again”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 4 December 2013

Returned for the steak Diane. Well worth it. Pleasnt chat with the chef/patron who told us he baked his bread twice a day. Delicious. How does he stop his staff eating it in the kitchen?!

“Incredible value”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 December 2013

The lunch menu here is just amazingly good value....£15.50 for 3 courses that are all freshly-made from great quality ingredients by a very talented chef.
The restaurant is small and cosy, nicely decorated, with space for around 30 people. The welcome is very warm and friendly. Our kids were made very welcome and given a look around the kitchen.
The lunch menu has at least 3 choices each for starter, main and dessert, and all were appealing. Ian manages to use cheaper cuts of meat and veggies in season to keep costs down, and the result is fantastic food for a very reasonable price. Squid stew, boiled bacon and venison bridie were 3 outstanding mains on the day we went.
The winelist is short, well-chosen and reasonably priced, and the service is great. Overall a great lunch venue, and proof that a top chef can use fresh, seasonal produce to great effect, and keep the price down.
