We stayed for 6 nights and had a wonderful time. I had found it impossible to hire a car from the UK, we booked the holiday fairly last minute and all small rental cars were booked, but this was efficiently sorted out for us by Andrea and Stacia. We were picked up at the airport which was great after a long flight, Sam the car hire man was lovely and rates were very competitive. Throughout our stay, all staff were friendly and helpful.

This was our first trip to Barbados and Sea-U was a great place to start, we loved the cooling breeze, the simple but tasteful and comfortable rooms. It was good to have a fridge and plates, cutlery etc so that we could prepare a simple meal in the evenings after a large lunch! We ate in the restaurant once and enjoyed sitting chatting to the other guests. Breakfasts were good, fresh fruit, toast, cereal and always well cooked eggs of any type.

We explored most of the East coast area and would particularly recommend Hunte's Gardens and St Nicholas Abbey. We had a delicious lunch at the cafe run by Sam, I think it is the Garage, just up the hill from The Atlantis. Our favourite place for lunch (only on Weds, Thurs, Sat and buffet on Sun) was The Cove, just up the hill from Cattlewash beach.

Thanks very much to all the staff who looked after us so well, we hope to see you again next year.

If you have chosen or are thinking about Sea-U Guest House you have already decided that resort type hotels with all their facilities or that even having TV in your room on holiday is not for you. Sea-U does what it says on the web site. It provides well appointed rooms in a house or cottage where rooms open on to shared verandahs; grounds, which slope down to the sea, are where you can sit in comfort with the sound of the ocean in the background and where you get space, views and avoid the concrete areas of the south and west coasts.

Buffet breakfasts are simple but adequate affairs eaten outside. They are supplemented with bacon (always excellently crisp) and eggs any way you like. Occasionally the green monkeys pass by whilst you dine.

Five nights a week, evening meals are provided. The menu is available at breakfast and if you like it you sign up for it. There is no pressure to dine. The meal (as with the reasonably stocked honesty bar) was competitively priced compared to other dining in the area. The meal is well cooked and well presented solid Bajan cooking. You may not like all that you are served but that's the fun of experiencing cooking in different counties. You will only get cheaper food by heading to the fish cabins in Oistins (which it is recommended that you do at least once).

The evening meal is eaten around a communal table. Sea-U attracts travellers who want comfort and service but not frills and sitting chatting about others' lives and their travel stories is an excellent way to spend an evening. Sea-U will arrange a separate table if you want but it is not as much fun. If you do not want to eat at Sea-U the Atlantis next door is a pricey but good alternative (Sunday buffet lunch is excellent but needs booking as it is very popular) whilst Dinahs (on the beach needs arranging with the owner for an evening meal as she does not cook every evening) or The Garage just beyond the Atlantis are recommended.

The Sea-U staff are delightful and were always helpful.

A car is essential though we found the service of being collected at the airport and the car being delivered to the hotel useful to establishing the geography of the area.

Although there is no electronic equipment is in the rooms, wi-fi is available throughout the hotel and grounds and worked well even though there was a need to log on regularly this was a very simple process. Make sure you bring your own equipment.

The rooms have good ensuite bathrooms but best to shower in the evening when the water is hottest!

If you want a quiet holiday without the frills but with location and comfort Sea-U is good - if you prefer resorts you probably will not like it.

Stayed for 9 days in one of the cottages. Great room and fine view from the balcony. However the breakfast which is included in price is very basic. They run out of things early but the coffee is good. Go for the eggs by request as the omelette is delicious. Optional evening meal is a group dinner at one or two tables depending on numbers. This was not what we expected. Price at USD 30 is very poor value. The portions are small and food often arrives cold or lukewarm. Definitely better off finding another place to eat. Watch out for Friday and Sunday evening as restaurant closed. Bathsheba is quiet and most places do lunch only. You are very limited in the evening for food so Sea U might be only option. Atlantis restaurant and Roundhouse easily walkable and both good but are pricey. However, overall would definitely recommend as a place to stay but not to eat.

If you are looking for a fitness centre, a pool, a casino, or a sandy beach with no waves, do not come here. However if you want real life, in a lovely setting, with wind and crashing waves, and real people to be with, then this is THE place in Barbados. We had a lovely time. The rooms are basic by the standards of the hotels on the west side of the island, but they are better than many we've stayed in SE Asia and Africa. And the food is good.

Highly recommended if you want to get away from it all.

Room Tip: Any room is good.

Sea-u guest house is in my opinion the best place to stay on the east coast. its not commercialised at all, its also probably the best value for money in terms of accommodation and they also provide a 3 course dinner for 30 USD which compared to everywhere else on the island is very reasonable.
The staff are super friendly and extremely helpful, one staff member Stacey even came to collect us after hours 45 minuets away from the guest house as we were lost-THANK YOU STACEY!
Sea cat makes a fuss of you on arrival with a coconut drink cut fresh from the tree as a welcome gift.
The only thing I can fault with sea-u is that if you choose to have dinner with them you have to sit with everyone else staying there, he tables around you are empty so not sure why you cant have a private meal (it would be nice to have the option).
other than that all very good service and lovely clean rooms.
RECOMEND GETTING A SAT NAV FOR THIS AREA!!!!

Room Tip: All rooms are lovely

Thank you for your wonderful comments, we try always to make your experience with us unforgettable and look forward to welcoming you again soon. Our family-style dining is part of our unique charm as one of the few B&Bs on the island and it also helps us maintain our dinner value rather than having to serve individual tables.

Love this place! The relaxing atmosphere and beautiful view of the water on the island made you want to crawl in one of their hammocks and stay there forever. Staff were friendly but did not intrude. We loved it and would go back in a heartbeat!
