We spent an unbelievable 9 days at Chez Pierre. Let me first say, Pierre is really an amazing man. We left Chez Pierre with a new found friend. He runs the place by himself, and is quite busy, but always had the time to help us out. It is a bit of a “self serve” place as he is busy cooking, he leaves getting your drinks up to you – which we didn’t mind at all –it was actually really nice to just go pour a drink and not have to wait for a waiter.
The FOOD IS INCREDIBLE!! Pierre is an excellent chef, there was not a morsel on our plates that wasn’t top notch. Fresh fish, seafood, to die for sauces, and salads that could suffice for dinner with out the entre. If you’re a picky eater, maybe not for you, you get what he cooks (and it’s all great)– he will however cook based on allergies or vegetarian preferences.
The LODGING is perfect. All one needs to stay on the beach for a great vacation. There are only 6 bungalows – so it is private. Each bungalow has a screened in porch, comfortable bed and bathroom. The water in the bath is salt water, but other than a slight taste of salt on your lips while showering, it didn’t matter. No salty skin or anything after, we felt just as clean as if it were fresh water. Pierre provides fresh water for drinking – which you get on your own from the restaurant area.
The BEACH is beautiful, a nice long private flat. Very clean and sandy. The fishing in front of Pierre’s was not great for us because the wind blew the entire time, but we are told that is the exception. The guides Pierre can set you up with are great – no complaints and great fishing days.
If you prefer “5 star resorts” with all the accommodations of pools, toys, wait staff, etc., Pierre’s is not for you. But if you are looking for a quiet, secluded, private beach vacation with a bit of self service – look no further.

Chez Pierre is a great place to stay if you care about food and nature... Pierre is a kind person and a great chef; every dinner was special. I'll never forget the "open bar" and the cool breeze in the morning.... The accomodation was functional and essential. I would definitely like to come back.

Chez Pierre is the perfect lonely quiet holidays away from noise/tourists/shopping centers! Pierre's bungalows are right on the beach, bed in front of the sea, clean and comfortable. Just what you need, not more, not less, so relaxing! Pierre is an amazing host with a great spirit and the best cook of the island! Waking up just hearing the waves and feeling the breeze on your face (bungalows are all protected with mosquitos screens so you can sleep with everything wide open!) knowing that coffee and good breakfast is waiting for you on the terrassa is the best feeling I had in a long time. Plus Pierre can arrange for you an amazing boat trip and give you very good tips during your stay. We recommend Chez Pierre for all those who are not seeking fanciness, clubbing and heavy consumption for their holidays!

Best food we know of on the island. Robust flavors, fresh ingredients, beautiful presentation- great food by any measure. Even the pizzas (we had kids in our party) were top of the line.

Prices and quantities were misleading- $20-$30 salads and pasta dishes are scary but then you realize a small salad is solid for 2 and the large will serve 3-4. The pizzas are true 12" and will serve 1-2. The pasta dishes will serve 2 as well unless you're really hungry. Overall if you order the right amount it should actually be fairly well-priced!

Service... first a disclaimer: we originally made reservations for 19, then downgraded to 15, then arrived with 10 due to a sick family member. That said... the chef was quite rude. He told us when we arrived and reminded us later that he had extra help come in for us and was clearly irritated. All drinks are self-serve, which I love for water but for the alcohol drinkers in our party mixing their own drinks it was odd. The resulting drink quality was mixed as well, due to ingredients and group bar tending. The "extra help" didn't actually take our orders or serve drinks, she just served the meals.

Overall we'd go again. Always call ahead! We would order less and know what to expect.

We WILL be back. This little corner of the Bahamas was heavenly. Our cabin, just like the other 5, was literally right on the beach. We spent a lot of time just sitting on the porch enjoying the sun, ocean breeze and absolute peace. The property is on a secluded but large (2 km) cove and there are literally no other people there except those staying at Chez Pierre. Pierre cooks lovely breakfasts and dinners (both included in the very reasonable room rate) and will also cook lunch if you want to eat there. His salads and pizza are to die for. There is no other food in walking distance - no other people in walking distance for that matter. We spent our whole 4 days without getting in a car. There is snorkeling off each end of the cove, although if you want to really see fish you'll want to use Pierre's contact who will take you out on his boat for a half or full day of snorkeling. The walks on the beach were wonderful, especially at sunset. The cabins are very spartan but perfectly comfortable - how much do you need in 80 degree weather and sunshine? The salt water showers were interesting and actually not even noticeable unless you got the water in your mouth. My hair actually felt softer than usual due to the softness of the water - it's a light saltiness, almost like having a water treatment tank in your basement. Pierre is an efficient, welcoming, quirky host who we had fun getting to know. It is a wonderful place to relax and not feel compelled to do much of anything. We loved the peace and simplicity of the property and will be back.

Room Tip: It would be hard to choose a bad cabin - they are situated with enough room between each that you do...

We are from the interior of BC Canada and we love to camp or stay in a cabin to enjoy the peace and quiet of the mountains and lakes. If you like the same you will love this place. The only difference is you are on a Caribbean beach that is private. Only six cabins, a restaurant and 2 km's of beach to wander and a whole laid back island to explore. At night you can have a breeze off the water to cool you. The sunsets are amazing. A great way to end happy hour.

The cabins are clean and comfortable and on the beach. They have screened in porches to keep the bugs out. You may choose to bring bug repellent such as "Skin So Soft" . The bathrooms are clean but the water is slightly salty. We brought salt water soap but it is not necessary. Pierre supplies fresh water for drinking.

Pierre's meals are excellent. While we were there we ate Grouper, Wahoo, Mahi Mahi, Lobster, Tuna, Shrimp and Crayfish all served with an excellent salad as a starter. You get breakfast and dinner included with your accommodations. Lunch is extra but you must have one of Pierre's pizzas at some point in during your stay.

We recommend a rental car and if you are exploring we would suggest a SUV. Pierre will make arrangements if you ask. There are local stores that have ice, food and beverages. We brought a soft cooler and Pierre lent us one he had at the time.

We also went fishing and exploring the cays with Locksley Cartwright a local guide. We saw sharks, ray, turtles and caught a bone fish. Pierre also made these arrangements for us.

A visit to Dean's Blue hole is a must and take your snorkel gear if you have it.

Pierre does it all so he is a busy man but does provide all the amenities. As far as personality as some folks have written we think his translation from french to english may come across as being rude. After Pierre gave us directions he told as " open your Eyes and watch" .What he meant was "keep your eyes open and you will see it". Not everything on Long Island is well marked so Open Your Eyes.
We explored from the northern end to the southern end so Chez Pierre's location in the middle was perfect.

If you are looking for a 4 or 5 Star all inclusive Resort this is not the place. If you want a lovely cabin on the beach with breakfast and dinner included and peace and quiet, this is the place. We would not hesitate to return.

Easily one of the best vacations I've had. We spent 5 days at Chez Pierre before returning to Atlantis for 2 days. Our biggest regret is we didn't spend our entire vacation at Chez Pierre. Beach, sun, beauty, peace and tranquility all at your fingertips. Long island is beautiful, the people are friendly, and it is not crowded.....anywhere. If you're looking for a secluded vacation where you can reconnect with yourself and loved ones I highly recommend Chez Pierre. Pierre won't hold your hand throughout your stay but he met all our requests and went out of his way to make sure our desires were met.

Room Tip: The rooms are a coin flip to the beach....you can't choose a bad one!
