Restaurants use the name Sawadee all over Thailand & means basically 'Hello' in Thai. The Sawadee, at Cénac in the Dordogne is an unlikely place to find a Thai restaurant and the exterior doesn't exactly say ..'Hello'..
It looks like those you see in the side streets of Bangkok ..pretty ordinary from the outside, a small shop front, some lights & signs, a few chairs ..Yet when you go inside the kitchen with a very busy chef in charge greets you. With the spicy smells and atmosphere you could almost be in Thailand.. and the food is a good as it gets.. We dined there a few times, normally latish [9 -10pm] and it was always busy. In fact as it got later most of the locals from the other bars & food places came in to eat!
The service is attentive and smooth despite some serious peaks with diners. Plus the food from wok to plate, expertly cooked by a chef that certainly understands the gentle nuances of spice, herbs and flavours that is Thai food.
In summary, excellent Thai food, great service and atmosphere with good value to match. Don't miss it if you are in the area.
