Last visit we ate this restaurant by stopping off halfway down our' Vitrac canoes' adventure(already reviewed, this visit we bought a take away after a suberb eavning in a hot air balloon, it was a perfect choice to compliment the day. The food is truly thai made by french speaking thai proprieters- can suggest the seafood pad thai and the chicken chillie with rice. It is Thai made traditional with flavour but not over-spiced as happens sometimes with western style Thai cuisine. The dishes were all freshly made and the service prompt. Prices were reasonable and pleasant change from normal French cuisine. Most restaurants in the area are closed on Monday nights but this isn't. My camera had run out of battery so no photos available.

Restaurants use the name Sawadee all over Thailand & means basically 'Hello' in Thai. The Sawadee, at Cénac in the Dordogne is an unlikely place to find a Thai restaurant and the exterior doesn't exactly say ..'Hello'..
It looks like those you see in the side streets of Bangkok ..pretty ordinary from the outside, a small shop front, some lights & signs, a few chairs ..Yet when you go inside the kitchen with a very busy chef in charge greets you. With the spicy smells and atmosphere you could almost be in Thailand.. and the food is a good as it gets.. We dined there a few times, normally latish [9 -10pm] and it was always busy. In fact as it got later most of the locals from the other bars & food places came in to eat!
The service is attentive and smooth despite some serious peaks with diners. Plus the food from wok to plate, expertly cooked by a chef that certainly understands the gentle nuances of spice, herbs and flavours that is Thai food.
In summary, excellent Thai food, great service and atmosphere with good value to match. Don't miss it if you are in the area.

Really pleased to find a good Thai restaurant in the Dordogne, especially authentic Asian food in southwest France is a rarity. The food here was definitely authentic -- our chicken coconut curry was superb and the pork Phad Thai was absolutely delicious. We were a family on the grungy side, having just been canoeing, but were welcomed by restaurant staff, given a lovely table on the terrace, and even gave us extra plates so we could share adult portions with our kids. Drinks were delicious, but a bit on the expensive side. Would recommend this restaurant for anyone with a hankering for good Thai food.

Would never have thought by that while in France I would be eating Thai. The service was amazing and nothing was too much. The food was delicious but on the spicy side so go for medium if you do not like it too spicy. Don't go overboard on the starter as you will not have room for mains. Will be back
