I stayed here whilst in Leicester on Business. Overall, an excellent stay, the staff were very pleasant and welcoming, with a good selection of drink at the bar. Very comfy rooms. Highly Recommendable

We were looking for somewhere to stay while visiting relatives in the area and somewhere not too expensive. When we found this place we thought it looked to good to be true for the price, but took a chance anyway and I'm really pleased we did. We booked one of the upstairs rooms with a seperate bathroom on the floor below. The owners can't do enough for you and nothing is too much trouble. We can't comment on the food because we didn't eat there, but the restaurant looked really good. Everywhere is clean and tidy and although the carpets are a little worn and decor is a little tired in places the atmosphere and character of the building is fantastic with flagstones and period features. There is free WiFi and off road parking. We will definitely be back.

I booked this based on previous reviews and it was very comfortable and staff were exceptionally helpful and friendly. Decor was fairly average and the evening meal was fairly standard pub grub but nothing special. I was expecting equivalent of really good pub food, I had the burger but the deep fried onion rings complete with oil and fairly mediocre burger left me disappointed. I would stay there again but would ask for a courtyard room and would eat out.

Thanks for staying at Kirkby House, the menu at Kirkby House has 16 main course choices. The most popular ones are Cajun Chicken, lean strips of Chicken Breast dusted with Cajun spices and pan fried with Sweet Peppers Mushrooms and Onion, then smothered in a reduction of fresh double cream, garlic, sweet Thai chilli sauce and ground black pepper. Salmon and Prawn Mornay, Shetland salmon and Norwegian prawns in parsley sauce topped with farm house cheddar and oven baked. The homemade Lasagne and Beef Stew with mustard and parsley dumplings are quite popular too. I have checked with staff and you are correct you did order a plain Burger with chips and battered onion rings. Chips and Battered onion rings are deep fried in high quality vegetable oil to respect are regulars who are Vegetarian. Burgers are popular with are younger and older guest alike. Recently I have served them with a combination of some of the following, Cheese, Onion, Bacon, Lettuce, Tomato, Hash brown, Eggs, Mayonnaise, Brown sauce, Red sauce and Chilli sauce. Kirkby House cook to order and always try to offer guests the meal they request. The more extensive menu has been reviewed elsewhere on Tripadvisor.

Found it as a cheap online deal with LateRooms and was pleased with the outcome.

Friendly and welcoming staff who couldn't do enough to please and serve which was appreciated.

Very spacious rooms with everything you needed, free wi-fi as well with a decent speed. Heavy duty curtains - no light got through this morning!

Evening meal food choice was good and the quality of the food was very, very good. Cooked there and then by excellent chef - had the Cajun Chicken - would recommend it - didn't need pudding, large portions, which was a shame as I had my eye on the Treacle Sponge.. :-)

About 6 miles outside of Leicester but as the title of this review says, worth going the extra mile as they do for you, would use it again as first choice if needing to stay near Leicester again.
