“One word...Spectacular!”
Reviewed 13 May 2012 via mobile

We can only echo and add our voice to the existing reviews of this stunning hotel. In fact this is less of a hotel and more of an experience. From the minute we set foot in the door James and the rest of the staff made this place feel special, their attention to detail, respectful friendliness and thoughtfulness are an example to all other hotels. The loch view room we were upgraded to gave a breathtaking view of snow capped mountains and Loch Tay, who needs a TV when you have that view. The food was just as good as the other reviews say and the menu and wine list had clearly been put together with thought and no little skill. We feel like this little gem of a hotel won't stay a secret for very long. One word.... Spectacular!

We stayed for 2 nights in May, the food is fantastic and the atmosphere is relaxed and friendly.
We had a room in the main hotel with stunning views - thistle room. Definitely recommended - we will be going there again.

First visit since the new owners took over. Overall nice ambience and great food.Views are still stunning. Recommend the taster menu, truly excellent.I will be intrigued to see how the designer re-branding goes, Especially enjoyed the personal attention from James and the team.

Likely to be our first visit of many. Where to start? The food! Innovative ideas that wouldn't be out of place in a michelin starred restaurant, beautifully presented dishes such as salmon in beetroot, cauliflower that looks like a work of art and an epic pork main dish.(not often that beetroot , cauliflower and epic are in the same sentence!) All the better as being allergic to both dairy and gluten I tend to end up with plain salad or steak, not a problem here. As for the setting - breathtaking! Having travelled all round the world we tend to forget how bonnie scotland can be: this is Scottish scenery at its finest - even with fresh snow at the end of April (well it is scotland!). Pleased to say the bar also has 2 scottish ales on tap. As other reviewers have commented, staff are excellent and are obviously working very hard to establish the hotel.
PS Unless you have a 4x4 approach from the Kenmore side - road is in a much better condition on the Perth side.

This was our first visit under the new ownership, although we have stayed many times previously.
I know people say you should never go back because things cannot be the same, and things are different, but in a good way.James and his colleages are working very hard, and nothing is too much trouble.
I know this hotel is at the top end of the price scale, but book yourself a top end room, sit, and take in the view, and relax. Thankyou once more to James, David and Raquel for looking after us so well. We'll be back !

Room Tip: The Sheilings, Cottages and lockview rooms are all worth a look

This was our fourth trip to the Ardeoniag Hotel, and without a shadow of a doubt, the best. As it was both our first wedding anniversary and my Birthday it was always going to be special, but the staff at the Ardeonaig added the finishing touches to some superb memories.

The hotel has recently changed hands, seeing a previous employee take on the role of General Manager. A very good move indeed. James Payne is not only managing the hotel and staff to a new level of perfection, his knowledge of fine food and skills as a sommelier are second to none.

We were upgraded to one of the new cottage suites and presented with a bottle of champagne on arrival for our anniversary. Gold star Ardeoniag, as the bottle was opened using the ancient method of sabrage. The room as always was wonderful, even better when you have a first inspection with a glass of bubbles in hand!

The food throughout our stay was sheer perfection. The new Head Chef Ross Miller has worked under Gordon Ramsay, Martin Wishart, the Michelin rated Roux brothers at La Gavroche and was also Head Chef at The Champany Inn. Needless to say the tasting menu and associated wines were mouth watering, each course managing to succeed the next in splendour!

On our second evening a table was even set-up in the library for private dining and more wonderful food creations. Luckily we took our road bikes and went on some marvellous full-day rides though the munrows of Scotland. Not only needed to build the appetite, but to burn some calories! This is the perfect spot for bilking, walking, running, boating and even outdoor swimming should you feel the need! However, if you just want to relax you are in the perfect place. No wifi and TV results in the ultimate switch off.

As a couple we can't recommend the Ardeoniaig enough. We'll be back very soon!

Room Tip: The outdoor cottages and suites provide the ultimate get-away.

My birthday usually comes and goes with minimal fuss (my choice) but my husband was determined that my 40th birthday would be different from other years. He spotted a feature on Ardeonaig Hotel in an Edinburgh magazine and after a scan of the reviews on Trip Advisor decided it would make the perfect getaway for my birthday treat. Expectations were high and Ardeonaig delivered in every way - the location, the food and wine, the friendly and welcoming service, and luxury accommodation. One of the highlights was returning to our Sheiling lodge after one of the best meals I've ever tasted to witness a beautiful starlight sky - a rare sight for city dwellers like myself. If life truly begins at 40, then I'm so glad I started mine at Ardeonaig!

Room Tip: If you're willing to stretch the budget opt for a Sheiling lodge in the grounds of the hotel. If...
