“Fantastic”
Reviewed 24 August 2014 via mobile

This is a wonderful little hotel overlooking the River Tay. Our rooms were gorgeous with fantastic views over the river - the bed linen was very luxurious and the bed itself was comfortable. There were many thoughtful touches in the room as well including quality toiletries and tea and coffee.
The food is truly excellent with an exceptionally good breakfast menu and for dinner I can particularly recommend the venison and also the chicken stuffed with haggis. The staff were very friendly and helpful throughout our four day stay.

Overall highly recommended and very good value for money. Our rooms were a trifle cold for our liking but I think as southerners from the UK we are not used to the slightly cooler climes of Scotland!

My Wife and i pooped in to the Inn on the Tay today 17/08/2014. The place is stunning in it's simplicity and the exterior views are to die for, Scotland at it's finest!!!!. I was recommended the Chicken, Bacon and Haggis pie by the " owner?" I have to say it was a good choice, i didn't finish it as there was a lot of it but i have to say i loved it. All in all i am glad that we stopped off here, the folks are freindly the resturant is beautful ( it is also a hotel with 5 rooms). Grandtully is a beautiful little place, obviously it is often overlooked by it's big near neigbours Pitlochry and Aberfeldy but i would recommend this place and this small village to anyone!!!!!

Had a lovely quiet one night stay with my partner this month. The location right next to the river Tay is beautiful and great if the weather is nice enough you can sit outside on the large pateo area. If you have to sit inside staff at the hotel try and sit you next to the window looking out into the river which is nice.

On arriving after a long drive we went inside and walked into the bar area there was a girl on the bar who instead of welcoming us, immediately told us that check in wasn't until 4pm. We were very disappointed as she wasn't very friendly, we also felt that 4pm check in is far too late in comparison to most hotels and guesthouses, especially with this being such a small hotel of only 6 rooms, with a check out time of 1030am, I do feel check in should be much earlier. We didn't get of to a great start and didnt feel very welcome.

We went for a walk and a bit lunch whilst we waited on our room. At 4pm we went back into the bar area where the same girl just walked away from us giving us no instruction as she went to find another member of staff, all she needed to say was that she was going to find someone to see to us instead we were left confused and unsure of what was going on. A girl named Jenny came out and showed us to our room, Jenny was lovely showed us to our room, offered to take our bags and checked we had everything we needed. Jenny was also our waitress that evening and was very pleasant and helpful. The meal was fantastic! We had Cullen skink, mussels, chicken supreme, cheesecake and a bottle of wine. Everything we had was really amazing!

The next morning we had booked our breakfast for 930am we got up a bit earlier so decided to go down about 9am. On entering the restaurant there was another member of staff there who again didn't welcome us and in fact looked very annoyed with us coming down early, she actually looked at her watch and then shook her head as we walked in.

The Inn on the Tay is a very lovely place to stay but we did found the service very up and down, Jenny was great and on leaving the next day we spoke with a different lady who suggested Lochs to visit and she was extremely helpful and very friendly, it was a shame she wasn't working the day previous.

We had a itison voucher and we stayed here for two nights and it was lovely.
Room was bright and spacious. It was also to the front which was a little noisy but not too bad.
The food is really nice too - so much so we ate here both nights. Chicken stuffed with haggis and whisky sauce was amazing!!!
It was a little chilly for sitting on the decking watching the canoeist but on a nice day it would have been ideal. (maybe next time)
Not sure if I'd pay full price for our stay but will definitely be looking out for a voucher/deal again.

Beautiful small hotel (6 bedrooms) on the south bank of the river Tay opposite the stunning "Highland Chocolatier". The room we had was spacious and elegant, overlooking the river where white water rafting and canoeing are regular activities. The hotel has a decking area looking on to the river and where, on our first night, most people were dining (warm evening). The bar and restaurant are excellent too and the food was superb.
A very warm word for all staff who excelled and couldn't have been more helpful.

Room Tip: Choose "river view"

Just back from a great 2 nights at The Inn on the Tay. Beautiful setting, stunning room (room 5) which has fab views over the River Tay. We were lucky enough to get great weather which was perfect for sitting on the decking to watch the canoeing. Only hitch was the shower....not working the 2 days we were there but fortunately there was a bath...not ideal in the warm weather but better than nothing. A special mention must go to Kerry who was so helpful, right from when I phoned to make booking to looking after us during stay. Will def recommend to friends & family.

Fantastic welcome from the proprietor on arrival, with the family room overlooking the river Tay. Excellent food for dinner, and good value, only an hour from Edinburgh Airport. There is a fantastic play area for the kids, and good to paddle in the river. A good breakfast, with loads to see and do within 30 mins drive from the hotel. Recommend 100%

Room Tip: We had the family room, number one. Very cosy, quiet and roomy.
