Loch Maree was our last hotel(stayed in 5)after a week in scotland. It was a lovely way to end it !We had a cosy room over looking the loch and a warm welcome in the bar not only from Ray and Caroline who told us the history of the hotel but off the fabulous log burning fire!!The hotel has been decorated to a high standard and very clean. Our evening meal of smoked fish and salmon was delicious , After a few drinks!!! in the bar chatting to other guests and ray and caroline we had a comfy night sleep.Breakfast was also good and staff friendly. We would certainly stay again on our next trip to scotland

Room Tip: As others have said, ask for a room overlooking loch.

We had a warm welcome from Raymond and Caroline and the hotel has a friendly atmosphere. We stayed in Queen Victoria Room which has a stunning view across Loch Maree. The food is homely and good with good portions

Loch Maree hotel is in a truly stunning setting! We arrived early and went for a walk but were able to drop off our luggage. The hotel is spotless! we had room 12 and the view!! This is an ideal break for the serious fisherman/woman! right on the shore and boat available! my fly casting twitch was going crazy!
We had dinner, i agree with other reviews, it is a wee bit expensive but even so the black pudding/scallop/bacon and maple syrup was incredible! Ive struggled with this review as the hotel is on the edge of a border between hotel and inn (if that makes sense).

Room Tip: ask for a Loch facing room... number 12 is excellent!

It's hard not to be impressed by Loch Maree. It is in one of the most beautiful parts of Scotland and I have seen most of the country. The hotel itself is very traditional, but has clearly benefited greatly from a change in management and new investment. We had a very warm welcome, great rooms and a decent dinner and breakfast. The bar has some great beers too. This is a very remote area and running a business here can't be easy. I'm really glad the new team here have stepped up to the challenge.

Room Tip: As you'd expect, best to ask for a room overlooking the loch, rather than the road. The views ar...

My wife and I were on a visit to Gairloch last week and we had dinner at the Loch Maree Hotel. We had friends with us (another couple), and when we arrived we were given a warm reception from the owners - Raymond and Caroline. We had pre-dinner drinks in the cosy bar, with Raymond and Caroline making us all feel very welcome, then through to the lovely dining room. We had the most wonderful of views over Loch Maree. The quality of the meal was faultless, the presentation and service was excellent, and the starters, mains and sweets, all delicious and great value. After dinner we adjourned back to the bar, for a drink and a few stories from Raymond and Caroline. We all had a brilliant meal and a great experience at the hotel and the beautiful views rounded off a great evening, and I would definitely recommend it to all visitors to the area. A & A Duncan

Stayed at the Loch Maree Hotel earlier this week. Arrived but there were no signs to show where to sign in, so I stood and waited and a young male member of staff arrived and asked my name and then told me he had no forms for me to fill out. I asked if I needed to book for dinner and was told I could if I wanted to. (Not the best customer service going and a missed opportunity for cross selling and making sure we stayed there for an evening meal) the room was gorgeous with views over loch maree and the standard of the room was very good. We had a meal there and it was very good a blond female member of staff had just started on the 6th August and she was fantastic really helpful polite and well mannered. I asked three times about the boat trips mentioned on a poster as they are run by the owner and was told on that the owner would come and speak to me - they never did so they missed out on at least £40 additional income from us. Bar was very expensive a vodka and diet coke and a pint of shandy was more than £8. There was no information anywhere about places to go and things to do which seemed strange. Basically the blond new lady, the room and the food made the loch maree hotel a great place to stay but they need to work on a decent welcome for people, signs and information. (Four poster bed was creaky and lumpy but did look good)
