“Perfect for a busy family”
Reviewed 3 September 2016 for a stay in July 2016

We stayed at the honeyholm at the end of our 2 week Scotland trip and had a terrific time. The cottage had plenty of room for all 6 of us and we felt totally spoiled by the large bedrooms, multiple bathrooms, and nice large living area. After 2 weeks on the road we also really appreciated being able to shop at the local market and make dinner and breakfast at the cottage in the comfortable kitchen. Its such a lovely setting -- next time we will definately stay longer. Julie and her family are terrific hosts. They have a whole book of things to do in the area -- we took in the highland games on their recommendation and had a great time. Lots of restaurant and pub recommendations and a ton of things to do on the loch. This was our favorite place to stay in Scotland!

Liked best: The authentic cottage in such a lovely rural setting.
Liked least: The kids complained the wi-fi was too slow. They drove me crazy about it.

“The Honeyholm in Spring”
Reviewed 8 August 2016 for a stay in April 2016

We're on course for sampling every season!. After falling in love with the Honeyholm last November, we stayed for a long weekend in April, and now we are soon to spend a summer weekend there.

Imagine waking up to a picture-perfect view of spring lambs gamboling on cue over rolling green fields, AND the bubbling stream at the foot of the garden, AND the stone arch bridge. Beautiful. The Spring wildlife was remarkably obliging in April. Our new friend, a very bold hare, not only treated us to a demonstration of his road safety knowledge (sauntering over the bridge, then stopping to look left and right before crossing the lane, clever clogs). The next evening I looked up to find him sitting bold as brass in the garden, peeping in through the windows.

We had time to explore this time (and kinder weather!). Not only is the Honeyholm perfectly situated for visits to Loch Lomond and the Trossachs, both of which are stunning, the local area around Balfron also offers plenty of little gems well worth a look, including Drymen and Fintry (Culcreuch castle has a terrific woodland walk perfect for dogs, or you can walk them on the lead around the castle grounds in wetter weather). The drive over the fell moorland to/from Killearn is a must, too. (The cottage has a great collection of leaflets and information gathered by Ian and Julie, who are always themselves happy to suggest places to visit.)

Ian and Julie are lovely people and fantastic hosts, who can't do enough for their guests. The cottage itself is spacious yet homely, clean and comfortable, with every modern amenity. Equally perfect for a family holiday complete with kids, or a quiet getaway.

“A gem in a beautiful setting.”

This was such a lucky find for us when we decided to have a weekend break with our family to celebrate our 40th Wedding Anniversary. The cottage is spacious, clean and comfortable with everything you could possibly need and much more. The owners go out of their way to ensure that you have an enjoyable holiday experience with them and are very friendly. On arrival we found milk, eggs, bread and such ready for our use and before we travelled Julie had kindly offered to take in and refrigerate/freeze any provisions should we have chosen to arrange online, a delivery service from the local shops.

The view from the cottage is amazing and watching the changing light conditions over the hills is mesmerizing. An abundance of books, toys and games are provided for the use of everyone of all ages and there are a multitude of outdoor games and equipment too. One thing's for sure, no one could ever be bored when staying here whether at the cottage or out and about exploring the local area.

I mustn't forget to add my thanks for the lovely scones baked and delivered by Julie and Ian's daughter, they were delicious.

Thank you Julie, Ian and family for allowing us to share your beautiful oasis of calm, we hope to return soon.

“very special”
Reviewed 28 May 2016 for a stay in March 2016

We had a fantastic time at Honeyholm Cottage. The house is so comfortable and beautifully appointed, and in the most wonderful setting. Julie and Ian were incredibly helpful and nothing was too much trouble – from popping in to check we were ok after a power cut, to letting us hold a party in the house and gardens to celebrate a 50th birthday. It’s such a great place stay and very hard to leave.

“Stunning!”
Reviewed 19 May 2016 for a stay in March 2016

We visited the Honeyholm as a family group in March this year and had the most wonderful time. Julie greeted us with a friendly welcome when we arrived - the log burner was already lit for us and lovely homemade scones were left out for us (made by Julie's daughter-they were very tasty thank you!). The views from the cottage are just beautiful and it is so peaceful it is an ideal place to switch off and get away from it all. The cottage itself has everything you need, clean, tidy and decorated to a high standard. We could not fault our stay and would love to visit again one day. Thank you Julie and Ian for a lovely stay!

Exceptionally well appointed accommodation in rural Stirlingshire. In striking distance of Loch Lomond National Park, The Trossachs and beyond. Lovely views over the river at the bottom of the garden towards the hills. Julie and Ian are attentive hosts who will do their utmost to ensure an enjoyable stay - highly recommended
