“Tranquility at it best.”
Reviewed 1 June 2015 for a stay in May 2015

Beautiful location. Great for cycling around the huge lake and the local area. Very friendly and knowledgable hosts, who couldn't do enough to help you enjoy your break. The children enjoyed swimming in the lake while frog hunting for the frogs who set the backdrop for the sound that you hear. The dogs joined in too, swimming every day. Great local markets. Stunning local scenery and produce. Not forgetting how handy this gite is for the local wines routes. Very highly recommended if you are after a get away from it all holiday, where you can lose yourself in true France.

“Fabulous escapism”
Reviewed 13 August 2014 for a stay in August 2014

Took my 10 and 13 year old and partner to escape technology and alarm clocks, I was a little unsure at first but couldn't have been more right, had the most chilled out fabulous time.
Fresh chicken eggs for breakfast and a loud cockerel to replace the alarm clock.:)
Sally Fantastic Adrian very funny, great warm welcoming couple nothing too much.
My 10 year old Jess joined them for walks and feeding time with the animals, great base for Saumur vineyards ,Chateau,s and long bike ride,s around the near by lake
Thank you for your hospitality

“A lovely peaceful rural property suitable for cycling and walking”
Reviewed 23 August 2013 for a stay in July 2013

We had a most enjoyable 9 day stay at La Moussette in July 2013. The accommodation was very comfortable and lacked nothing. The location was stunning in lovely rural countryside just outside of the pleasant village of Breil. Sally and Adrian were very welcoming and friendly and gave us access to all their land to sit in and explore. Thanks also for lovely fresh eggs and wine on our arrival. The location was really good for bike rides and walks and within easy access of the Loire river and larger towns. We would recommend this Gite and whilst we didn't see inside Sally and Adrian also have a larger Gite next door which looked very nice.

“Very friendly and quaint place to stay but handy for the Loire Valley wine routes”
Reviewed 6 August 2012 for a stay in July 2012

This is our second stay with Adrian and Sally. On both occasions they have been friendly and helpful, always around for a chat about what is available in the area. When you arrive you get a free box of wonderful free range eggs and a bottle of milk. Its not difficult to spot where the eggs come from as the chickens are wondering around the property all day.

The cottage is well looked after and the beds are comfortable with good facilities for cooking and in our cottage both a bath and shower available in the bathroom.

For us one of the great things about the situation of the cottage is that it enables you to visit all across the Loire valley with a number of chateaux within easy reach. Our trip takes in a large number of the local vineyards and if your thing is to take wine home then you will not be disappointed, just take note there are so many vineyards around you need to do some research.

If you want to walk locally the Lac de Rille has a lot of wildlife around it and its a good bike ride for a day.

All in all a great place to stay and we are hoping to return in the next few years.

“Great holiday for enjoying the outdoors and relaxation”
Reviewed 29 July 2012 for a stay in July 2012

We spent four nights at La Mousette and found the building comfortable and clean, Adrian and Sally Fox the owners were very welcoming and helpful. Highlights included the cycle paths around the area and swimming/canoing in the lake adjacent to the property.
The house stands on tranquil grounds but there are local amenities nearby. Car essential.

“Escape to the Country”

We had a lovely stay at La Moussette and I hope this review provides you with a brief insight in to why we will be returning for another stay.

If you are looking for 5 star hotel luxury then stop reading now. If you are looking for a comfortable, escape from the hustle and bustle, relaxing, enjoyable break then this could well be for you.

The service and support was excellent. Sally and Adrian manage to strike a great balance of warmth and friendliness, offering ideas of good places to visit and eat etc - whilst respecting our privacy and the fact we were away on holiday as a family. They were great hosts. They also have an amazing menagerie of "pets". Dogs, geese, chickens and a never present cat all added to the real escape that summed up our holiday - our 2 teenage boys loved having the animals round and about (and so did we). There were even fresh eggs available which were wonderful.

The gite has everything you may need apart from a TV but if I am to be really honest not having a TV made our experience even better as it enabled us to focus on enjoyment as a family, talk more meant we sat outside enjoying the local wine even more. We took a couple of laptops and the WiFi was excellent.

Locally the Gite is a situated near Lac de Rille, a lake with loads of wildlife and great cycling and walking opportunities. Again we all enjoyed this as a family. Adrian and Sally also have bicycles, a rowing boat and canoe to hire, all of which added to our enjoyment. Having not cycled seriously for nearly 30 years the local roads and cycle route were fine for even me and the very light traffic made it an even better experience. The local village of Breil is around a mile away (1.5km) and there is a fantastic local bakery as you enter the village on the road from the Gite. Open every day except Monday it is an absolute joy. The people were also friendly and we had the fortune to be staying for the July 14 celebrations and attended the village "party" at which we were made to feel very welcome.

The location for the Loire valley is also very good. Situated between Angers and Tours you are in a good place to take advantage of both Anjou and Touraine with the marvelous Chateaux, lovely towns and villages and excellent wines. There are too many good places to visit in less than 1 hour travelling to mention in a review like this.

In short we had a wonderful time and we have already booked to return later this year. We would very much recommend others to visit too.
