“Fantastic introduction to the Hunter Valley”
Reviewed 30 June 2014

Stayed for one night during the June bank holiday weekend, and couldn't have had a better experience. Colette was great to deal with prior to our arrival, and very accommodating to the fact that we wanted to arrive early and booked a winery tour with Ken. Both Ken and Colette were lovely throughout the stay, incredibly knowledgeable and helpful, and the room and service was impeccable.

Having not been wine tasting nor to the Hunter Valley before Ken's input and experience was invaluable to our enjoyment - we wouldn't have known where to start otherwise!

All in all a great stay in a great B & B with great hosts, highly recommended!

Being out first B&B experience we were a bit sceptical although from the first step through the front door my wife and I felt like we were at 'home' Wonderful home, exceptional people and fantastic memories were made this weekend! Great rooms, scrumptious breakfast, very relaxed, informative and enjoyable wine tour. Helped me with my surprise for my wife which was wonderful! Could not speak highly enough about the hospitality and warmth of Ken and Colette and all in all an amazing experience which would do again in an instant!!!

We spent a long weekend at Hunter Heaven with some friends.
We choose B&B for budget reason, so we could not expect Hilton 5 stars service!!
We were welcomed by the host couple Colette and Ken, oviestly at first was a little awkward because we didn't know each other.. but suddenly we bond so well that we felt like home! (better than formal hotel environment).
The warmed house is furnished with all the comforts balancing modern and classic decorations and antic furnitures, amazing paintings and family photos all over the house.
An available guest fridge/freezer which we could keep our own drinks and other food, without feel awkward to brake the owners privacy.
After they showed us our bedrooms Colette and Ken gave us a complimentary bottle of good red wine.
We had such good time at wineries, the monthly hand market, watching the kangaroos, and told some interesting stories about the town history guided by Ken.
They gave us the order form for the next morning brekkie with plenty of choice, sometime even the guests need to respect the host needs, so the nexts morning we all went to have breakfast on time, Colette and Ken made us yummy and joyful breakfast by interacting with us as well!
On the last night Colette was very happy to let us use her kitchen to warm up some take-way food... actually we had dinner all together sharing food, laughs and drinking good wine and try the local chilli shots!
We all had very good time at Hunter heaven!
we do recommend this place to whoever want to visit the Hunter Valley wineries in a totally relax.

Just got back from Hunter Haven with my other half and can't fault it! Great B&B with lovely owners- Colette and Ken. Everything smoothly operated, from our pick up at Morisset (which was such a big help as we didn't drive up!), right up until we left. Rooms beautiful and clean and a lovely cooked breakfast every morning. Wine tour was brilliant - Ken's local knowledge was fantastic. Will have absolutely no qualms in going back!

We are a professional couple that live very busy lives and consumed by our work which is why we were desperate for a bit of R&R to unwind and de-stress.
We found Hunter Haven on a Group-On deal and decided to book it as it looked nice and was at a good price.
What a tremendously pleasant surprise! Upon entry we were met by the B&B owners, Ken and Collette, who are hands down two of the nicest people you will ever meet.
The house at first impression just looks like a family home, but the rooms are fitted out like proper hotel rooms with ensuite, toiletries and air conditioning (heating). The rooms are extremely well kept and the bed was large and comfortable.
We were also given a complimentary bottle of wine and wine tour as part of the package. The wine tour was hosted by Ken and his father in-law and was both informative and fun with no pressure to buy from the vineyards.
Breakfast was cooked by Collette each morning with the Irish breakfast especially delicious. If you want to have a chat over breakfast, Ken is very entertaining with his jokes and stories and his wealth of knowledge about the Hunter area. A very cheerful start to the day.
If you are looking for homely accommodation, but still the same privacy as a hotel room then this is a great place to book!
Highly recommend!

We initially discovered Hunter Haven through a deal on the Groupon website, however, further dealings with Colette led us to drop Groupon as the middle man and book two nights during the Easter school holidays that included daily breakfast and a wine tour.
At first glance the Hunter Haven bed & breakfast looks like a large family house, but once past the clean pool and family portraits there are rooms complete with stylishly dressed queen beds & a spotless modern looking bathroom. Showers were AWESOME, the shower head was really big like a rainforest shower head and the hot water didn't run out! (Very important after a hard day wine tasting)
The breakfast forms were to be filled in and given to Colette and Ken by 830 the night before, offering a selection of eggs, Irish breakfast, croissants, toast etc. The espresso machine was put to good use by us as well! Each morning we sat on the balcony and enjoyed our piping hot coffees & breakfast with the rolling hills of the Hunter in front of us.
The wine tasting tour was run by Ken, who drove us to a handful of wineries in his four wheel drive. From the very start of the tour he explained that the purpose of this tour was for us to gain a better understanding of our palettes and how a variety of wines can be enjoyed in different situations. There was no pressure to purchase wines (however there was no issue with that, by the end of the afternoon all you could hear in the car was the clink of dozens of bottles) and Ken was really keen for us to develop a better taste for what we liked. Throughout the drive and tour he told us stories about the local wineries and the history behind each one. You can tell he has a keen interest in the wine making business and also how well he gets along with the staff at each winery. They knew each other by first names and it was really cool to be able to ask Ken questions about just anything.
We also went to dinner at 221, and Blaxlands Inn, which I'll review separately.
Overall we had an amazing time- Colette & Ken are great people who work round the clock to ensure we are happy and satisfied. I asked Ken today (Anzac day) if he had a break at all this week, he told me that him & Colette have roughly 5 days a month off. The house is spotlessly clean, Ken & Colette are outstanding hosts... All the best to you both, I'm really looking forward to visiting again and doing another wine tasting tour.

Colette and ken are so lovely they make you feel so welcome all the rooms are perfect, so clean and comfortable, if you are there for a concert, Colette or ken will drop and pick up from the event included in price of room. We have stayed here 4 times now and we wouldn't stay anywhere else
