“Llamas were lovely but the hosting skills needed work!”
Review of Abbey Llamas

Reviewed 28 August 2012

My son and I experienced the Llama walk as part of a free activity day held at Salcey Forest, hence the 5 star value for money as we didn't pay! The animals themselves and the walk were delightful, but unfortunately my son found the lady who was overseeing a little intimidating. She spent much of the time sternly telling us about what we shouldn't do with the animals and as my son is a natural worrier, he was concerned he was doing something wrong and I ended up walking the Llama instead. Whilst I appreciate that the well-being of the animals has to be paramount, considering that the activity day was aimed at children I felt the messages could gave been delivered a little less harshly. A shame, considering that the experience itself was lovely and very worthwhile.

Lizzie, who runs Abbey Llamas has 3 llamas & 2 alpacas - they are a delight. She met us in Salcey Forest & we had a 75minute walk, leading the animals, whilst Lizzie told us all about them - what they like to eat, how to care for them, their traditional uses on their homeland etc. It was really interesting & the animals are onderful, alittle frisky at times but generally calmly walking along stopping to munch on gras now & again. The organisation is 'not for profit' & aims to raise enough money to allow disadvantaged people or those with mental challenges the opportunity to walk with the llamas & do something truely unique. We loved it & you should give it a try
