I was walking the Northumberland Coast with my brothers-in-law. We were booked into Jubilee House by Contour Holidays, who had arranged our accommodation. Embleton is a pleasant quiet village about a mile from the beach, where there are great views of Dunstanburgh Castle.
This old house has been extensively and tastefully modernised to provide nice comfy rooms. Ours had a top-notch shower room and single beds with nice duvets. Our host, Jenn, was welcoming, and there were nice touches, like fresh milk in little bottles in the fridge in the hall. One or two unfinished bits and bobs - eg no towel rail in the bathroom. The house is co-owned with the Greys pub next door, where we had a good-value meal in the evening, although the service was a bit slow. Breakfast was well-served and there was good choice - had the Craster Kippers, as we were walking through that village a little later that day! All-in-all, a good place to stay. I got the feeling things were in a bit of transition, but they are trying hard, and deserve support.More
