“A lovely cottage with everything you need”
Reviewed 20 June 2017 for a stay in June 2017

The cottage was the perfect accommodation for a holiday with a friend and my dog. Although it's small, everything is arranged very well to make best use of the space and the bedrooms are light and airy. Downstairs there's plenty of seating room and the small garden is secure for a dog.
The kitchen has plenty of pots, pans and crockery. It's clear that Clare has an eye for quality, so it's a real home-from-home.
Embleton is a great location being convenient for Warkworth and Alnwick to the South and Seahouses, Bamburgh and Holy Island to the North. The beach is about 20 minutes walk or 2 minutes drive away and is stunning with crystal clear water.
We plan to return.

“Highly recommended”
Reviewed 27 May 2017 for a stay in May 2017

We would highly recommend Poppy Cottage as a place to stay when visiting Northumberland.

Location-wise, we found Embleton to be a great base from which to explore, with close proximity to Alnwick, with its Castle and Gardens, Howick Hall Arboretum, Seahouses (from where we caught a boat trip to the Farne Islands) and an easy drive to Lindisfarne, Cragside, Hadrian's Wall and Bamburgh, amongst other places.

Aside from the location, however, the cottage itself was just a lovely place to stay. It is clean, comfortable, well-equipped, nicely decorated and furnished to a high standard, and had some thoughtful little touches that welcomed us to our home for the week.

We would happily return to Poppy Cottage and would heartily recommend it to family and friends.

This is a perfect holiday cottage. It is welcoming, spotlessly clean and has everything you might want. The welcome basket was very tempting with homemade bread, lemon curd and lemon drizzle cake together with wine and kippers. The cottage is in the centre of the village with a shop and pub nearby but is still in a quiet location. The beautiful beach is only a short stroll away. We had a wonderful week and can't wait to visit again.

“Amazing Break”
Reviewed 15 March 2017 for a stay in December 2016

Great location for some lovely coastal walks. The cottage was immaculate, very well equipped and the welcome pack from Clare was a lovely touch. Our dog was made to feel welcome too. We could not fault our stay at all, it was utter bliss and we will definitely return.

“Outstanding little cottage”
Reviewed 19 February 2017 for a stay in February 2017

From the moment we arrived we knew we'd found a gem. My 7year old son declared it was the best cottage ever. The welcome pack was such a great start and made us feel at home straight away. We headed straight for the beach which is a 15 minute stroll down hill and is as good as any beach in the world in my humble opinion!! We were blessed with the weather, but for us what made our break special was having somewhere to come back to that we felt completely relaxed in! I hope we will be able to come back again
