We stayed at Dunstanburgh Castle Hotel for 3 nights and received a warm welcome. Our room was very comfortable and clean. All the staff were very friendly. We stayed on a bed and breakfast booking but had 2 nights eating at the hotel - food was excellent.

We stayed at the Dunstanburgh Castle Hotel from 24th -29th July 2014 whilst attending a family wedding in nearby Rock. For our room, an 18th century stable / barn had been beautifully converted to a small suite with cathedral ceilings and loft bedroom. All amenities top notch. Staff energetic, courteous, helpful. A huge daily breakfast prepared us for long walks on the public footpaths, beach, and nearby castles. Weather was gorgeous. We miss it already!

Room Tip: we did not see the rooms in the hotel proper, but liked the 'out buildings' for the suites...

A very basic hotel. We stayed during warm weather & rooms were very small & hot with no air conditioning or fans available. No fridge in room either. In desperate need of upgrading on decor as very dated.
However, bed was comfy & room was very clean. Staff couldn't do enough for you - any request was met & everyone was friendly throughout the hotel.
Over-priced for what it is but as remote in location I imagine there's not much competition within vicinity!
Our stay was due to a wedding & was convenient for that but we wouldn't choose to return.

Dear HJH77

We would firstly like to apologise for your experience and thank you for the time you have taken to write and post your review of The Dunstanburgh Castle Hotel. We are always grateful for our guest’s comments and are continually striving to improve. We have an on-going refurbishment schedule which is centred around the months we are closed, and strive to maintain this level throughout our operational months. With regard to the air conditioning we are a 2 star country hotel situated in England's most northerly county where we have never had this request and given the age of the building would be almost impossible to install for the 3 to 4 weeks of the year we are grateful for the sunshine. We do have cottages available which have fridges, but not in the hotel and whilst we do not provide fans in the rooms as you were informed almost one week prior to your arrival, we could have arranged one for you upon request, had you not brought one as you had informed us.

Finally, we would like to thank you for your kind remarks regarding our team and should you wish to visit us again , I am positive that you will have the experience you deserve.

Our party, nineteen in all, including nine children, aged between 2 and 15, and had a wonderful three day family reunion at the Dunstanburgh Castle Hotel. Most of us stayed in the cottages, and just three of the adults in rooms in the hotel. All were delighted with the accommodation, the meals (we had an excellent dinner each night in the hotel), and the staff, who were all extremely friendly and efficient. We occupied all three Police Cottages, so the enclosed garden in front of them was perfect for all the children to play without disturbing other guests elsewhere in the hotel and its grounds. These cottages, and the one single-bedroom cottage (the Hayloft) that we also occupied, were superbly furnished and equipped, and had excellent parking space. We knew the area but not the hotel, and chose the hotel largely on the recommendation of TripAdvisor.
The only (*very* minor) suggestion we have for improving the facilities concerns the wifi - it would have been nice if this had covered all our bedrooms and cottages, rather than requiring a visit to near the hotel reception and lounges.
We were lucky with the weather, but the accommodation would I'm sure have worked very well even if this had not been the case. I'm certain that some at least of us will manage to find an excuse to return before too long, and very much look forward to doing so.

Room Tip: The single-bedroom cottages, reached from the main hotel door by crossing the road and walking up th...

Room Tip: if all the rooms were as good as ours was chioice is not a problem

We had a brilliant time at the Dunstanburgh Castle Hotel, although we knew we would as we have stayed with them before and always had a great time. Good, friendly, helpful staff and superior accommodation in a small village near a great beach.
