We arrived here to a lovely warm welcome from Alan, Stevie and their dog Danny, after a drive up from Carlisle. We were shown to a lovely room with fabulous views over the gorgeous garden down to the Caledonian canal and over to the Ben Nevis range. Our dog Jet was welcomed and promptly went to play rough with Danny in the garden, whilst Stevie made us a cup of tea and we sat on their deck taking in the fabulous view. This place felt like home from home. Stevie and Alan's breakfasts are brilliant, with eggs from their own hens. We enjoyed using the guest lounge but the views are so good we never bothered with the TV the whole time we were there. After climbing Ben Nevis, the wonderful shower in our room was very welcome and lovely and hot. It would be worth that long drive to Fort William just to stay there again. Can't praise it high enough.

We stayed here for one night before embarking on a week long boat hire on the Caledonian Canal. This is a fantastic B&B with lovely hosts who made us feel very welcome. We had the front facing room, so sadly no mountain view, but the view to the rear is lovely and we enjoyed watching the birds on the feeder. The lounge has a lovely view of Ben Nevis. The room was a bit smaller than many we have stayed in but it was warm and cosy and spotlessly clean. Breakfast was amazing with probably the best fruit salad I have ever had. We enjoyed our stay so much that we tried to book again for when we came off the boat but the day was fully booked.

We were here just one night. It was fantastic. The B&B is wonderfull. The hosts were very atentive and kind. The room was very nice and very clean. They have a nice garden and it ist by the Caledonian canal. So you can sometimes see the boats pass. I definitly will have a look at it again if I go back.

This has to be as good as it gets - In terms of location, facilities and the owners Alan and Stevie, we are both of the same view.
Firstly, the location - The house and garden overlook the Caledonian Canal, with Ben Nevis completing the stunning views. Spent a very happy hour relaxing in the garden with coffee.
Facilities - The room was very clean, well equipped and tastefully decorated.
The owners Alan and Stevie were both very welcoming and helpful with nothing being too much trouble.
The breakfast was simply superb. Starting with a very large bowl of fresh fruit followed by a well cooked and tasty hot selection.
This sets the standard by which all others will be judged.

When we arrived we couldn't believe where we were. Instead of staying downtown Fort William, we ended up in this narrow beautiful road that took us to an unbelievable location facing the beautiful Glen Nevis. Stevie took such good care of us. The B&B is nothing less than impeccable. We had one of the best nights in our lives. We will remember it forever.

Stayed for two nights but ended up wanting to stay a week. The rooms may not be the biggest but they are beautifully furnished and with great views over Ben Nevis. A lovely lounge is also available (with TV). Stevie and Alan are a lovely couple who go out of their way to make you feel at home. The breakfasts - with home produced eggs - are brilliant too.

So, where to begin?
My wife and I recently took a trip from South Wales to Scotland. We had already booked hotels in East Kilbride and at Peebles and needed somewhere to stay for the two nights in-between. Fort William seemed like a central place so we checked out tripadvisor to see what we could find in the area. We soon came across Tigh-a-Ghlinne and as Muirshearlich seemed rather remote it caught our attention.
After reading many of the reviews it appeared too good to be true. Could the perfect house with perfect rooms in the perfect location actually exist? And if it did, could it really be run by the nicest couple in the world? And would they provide you with a breakfast fit for a king?
Well the answer to all of the above is a big YES.
We made contact with Stevie via email and fortunately our dates were available so we booked for two days. We had a feeling that staying here was going to be the highlight of the week and it cartainly was. We arrived early evening and were welcomed by a smiling Stevie in the garden who helped us in with our cases and showed us to our rooms. She informed us that there would be a cup of tea waiting for us in the lounge when we had settled in. The room was immaculately clean and tastefully decorated, if a little on the small side, and the en suite was equally as splendent. We noticed that there was no TV in the room and we were later informed that this was by design as they didn't want guests disturbed by neighbouring rooms. This turned out to be a good thing as when we made our way into lounge we met and got to know the other guests, something that we probably wouldn't have normally done. We were encouraged by Stevie and Alan to make ourselves at home and Stevie soon came out with a tray containing buscuits and pots of tea. We were also introduced to their lurcher, Danny who made himself at home in front of the TV. After an hour or so talking to the other guests we decided to have an early night so we filled out our breakfast request forms and went to bed.
After a relaxing sleep we made our way to the dining room and it was only then we were able to witness the stunning views of Ben Nevis and the Caledonian Canal. The breakfast was incredible with a vast choice which included Alan's seasonal fruit platter which was my wife's favourite. The eggs were exceptional and fresh from their own hens, and poached to perfection. After breakfast I took a walk down the garden and to the side of the canal and soon realised that I had a guest with me. Danny is quite a character.
After a long day travelling to Inverness, Aviemore and back to Fort William, we made our way back to the house and had a few drinks in the lounge with one of the couples from the previous evening who were stying there for several days. We never got to use the tea making facilities in our room as Stevie would always make sure we had plenty to drink in the lounge. Alan even came out with a bottle of lager for me and a bottle of wine for my wife.
After another good night's sleep we got up early to go for a walk before breakfast. It was very refreshing and very peaceful. After another amazing breakfast we took Danny for a walk down the canal before getting ready to leave. As we were leaving Alan gave us a box of fresh eggs from his hens as he knew how much we liked them. I can tell you that they went to a good home.
We both felt quite sad as we drove away from Tigh-a-Ghlinne as we were made to feel so welcome it was like saying goodbye to old friends. We made Stevie and Alan promise to never retire as we didn't know when we were likely to get to stay with them in the future.
So in conclusion, this was easily the best hotel/B&B experience we've ever had. Stevie and Alan are a wonderful couple, who have a beautiful house and provide a first class service. I can't imagine anyone who wouldn't have an amazing experience staying with them.
