“Rustic charm. Superb location!”
Reviewed 16 June 2013 for a stay in June 2013

If you want to stay in a character property, get a real taste of living in rural France yet be close to amenities and attractions, then this could be your best bet. Add small kid/s to the mix, and you probably won't do any better because this is a very safe, enclosed domain with good space for kids to play including a swing, lovely pool, HUGE trampoline (where my daughter spent hours a day) and a play room which is Godsent for parents with young kids. You have a choice of boulangeries in the local town which are minutes walk away, a 5 mins drive to major supermarkets, 10 - 15 mins drive to beautiful swimming rivers including that in Lagrasse which is one of my fav villages in the area, and within 30 mins to the beach. It is a great base to explore this part of Southern France, and even better is the fact that you have the lovely English couple owners, Honor and Simon who are always there to offer you advice, recommendations and even call local restaurants to make reservations for you should you be intimidated by the language barrier! Their knowledge and passion for the area are priceless and I am so glad that my first visit to Languedoc was spent here where I got to see and do much thanks to all the great recommendations and directions given by Honor. We stayed at the Secret Garden cottage which was fabulous since it had its own little private outdoor sitting area that overlooks the main courtyard which was empty most of the time, so it was pretty much like having our very own private courtyard. Oh and we particularly love love love the bedrooms and bathroom! :)

“A hidden gem!”

A gorgeous property situated in a Charming French village, we stayed for a week in one of the 3 amazing Gites, as we arrived early we were able to take a peek in all 3 and it matters not which one you are lucky enough to stay in they are all idyllic and will put a smile on your face as soon as you walk in. This is an excellent base to explore the region, not far to the beaches, numerous cathar castles and the unmissable Medieval City of Carcassone is only a stones throw away. Honor and Si are very familiar with the area and can recommend numerous lovely restaurants for that special night out or to accomodate family groups. If exploring has taken it out of you then relax by the immaculately maintained pool and grounds. We will definately be returning to this little Gem!

Perfect location, great gite, loads of stuff for the kids to do. Loads of amazing things to see within an hours drive - carcassonne, minerve, narbonne, leucate... Honor and Simon are perfect hosts and who can forget Bob The dog!

“Rustic France but with a modern twist”

We had a lovely stay in the Secret Garden Cottage which was really nicely finished with an open plan kitchen/living area, a double and twin bedroom upstairs as well as a bathroom. It also has its own little private outdoor area and BBQ. We were travelling with our 6 month old son and Honor was able to provide a travel cot and high chair which was really helpful (a baby bath and pushchair are also available to borrow). There is also a room full of toys, including some baby toys, which is great for entertaining slightly older children.
The gites are the perfect base to explore as there is so much to see and do round about or just relax by the pool. They are also very secure so great if holidaying with children and as there are 3 gites they are ideal if you are holidaying with friends or family but prefer your own space.
Honor and Simon were great and had a lot of local knowledge as well as being on hand to lend a few jumpers when the weather was a bit cool!
I would definitely recommend this to couples and families and we will hopefully be returning here in the future!

“Stayed for use as a B & B Perfect”

I visited with my family during the summer and fell in love! So much so that we wanted to buy a home out there. Honor, Simon and Holly were the perfect hosts. We stayed there to use as a base to look around for houses. It is so much better than a normal B & B. We used one of the gites so we could use the lounge to relax in the evenings and the hospitality was as good as ever.
I could not ask for more. Thanks guys. See you soon for dinner at our place!!

“It was like staying with friends......”

Had a wonderful stay a maison de la Roche with my husband and daughters age 9 & 11. it wasn't like being in a random holiday home it was like you were staying with friends. Honor, simon & holly couldn't have been any more welcoming. The gites are immaculate and furnished with Iove care and attention to detail.  Honor is also a wealth of information about the local area and will point you in the direction of anywhere you fancy going. We particularly enjoyed visiting a local flea market where we enjoyed haggling in French and trying the local delicacies in the market square.
Wouldn't hesitate to recommend to our friends and will be looking forward to another visit ourselves.

“Gorgeous Gites!”

Honor, Simon and Holly were fabulous hosts when we stayed at their gorgeous Gites. The Gites are modern and spacious with a rustic France twist and comfortably sleep four adults in their two bedrooms. The living area is open plan with an excellent fully equipped modern kitchen including an oven, with a large family sized dining table and a huge comfy sofa. The bathroom is modern and the large shower area has an excellent rain shower.

We loved our stay here and would highly recommend to couples and families as well as groups of people looking for a country village getaway.

Having been on the road for two months this was by far the best self catering accommodation we have stayed in across five countries in Europe. Simply gorgeous!
