We just came back from a wonderful 4-day trip to Nyons, a beautiful and quaint town in Northern
Provence. The town is best known for its olives, but also has plenty of wineries in the area. The Thursday morning market was incredible (also on Sunday) and the town swells with seasonal fruits, vegetables, local Provençal handicrafts, etc.

But the highlight of our trip was our hotel, Une Autre Maison, which is a charming oasis in the center of Nyons. It is a beautiful, charming old house which is now run by a wonderful couple, Raphael and Valerie, and their two delightful sons, Thomas and Matthew. Stay here is like being invited to someone's home. The gardens include a beautiful pool and jacuzzi and the rooms are a generous size and well appointed.

Raphael and Valerie are very knowledgeable about the area (scenic walks, wineries, olive producers, etc.) and were more than happy to point us in the right direction.

But, the real added bonus of this hotel is the food and wine. Raphael was an chef and owner of six successful restaurants in Paris and the food was amazing and his wine recommendations were spot on.
It was so good, that we ate dinner there every night!

We plan to return in February for truffle season!

We have also posted a lot of pictures of the hotel.

I found this charming, small hotel in the Rough Guide to Provence and then located their website.
The hotel, situated close to the main historic centre, is quite an oasis with a shady garden with pool and attractive seating areas and terrace.
The bedrooms could perhaps be described as 'shabby chic' and have lots of character. Ours had a view over the garden and pool and was peaceful and comfortable. Breakfast was served in the attractive restaurant and could be taken on the terrace or in the garden during the summer season.
This is a great little hotel centrally situated in the small, historic town of Nyons just north of the Provencal towns of Vaison and Carpentras.
if you're not in too much of a rush to get to or from the Riviera or Italy, it's not too far from the autoroute and is a good stop if you don't want to stay in a busy, major town or city. There is public parking in the square just outside the hotel's gate.

Although tempted to be selfish and keep the information about this delightful hotel to ourselves, we felt that the owner deserves to get some positive exposure on Trip Advisor (which she had never heard of!) Nyons is a very pleasant town in the northern, less well known part of Provence and is renowned for its olives and lavender. We wanted to stay in this area for three nights, so I did an internet search and luckily discovered "Une Autre Maison". It is a private hotel with only ten rooms, each beautifully decorated in a typical French Provincial style. Although only a hundred metres or so from the heart of the town, the hotel is hidden away behind a walled garden and you have the feeling that you are out in the countryside. "Une Autre Maison" is run by a delightful French woman, Annie Ledieu, who was extremely welcoming and anxious to see that we had everything that we needed. The hotel has a small restaurant (also with beautiful decor) and the delicious meals are prepared by the very competent chef, Stephan. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and are very pleased to recommend it.
