I discovered the Cormet de Roselend and the nearby lake during a motorcycle trip. Having reached Bourg-Saint-Maurice from the Iseran Pass, my riding buddy and I were still in the market for twisties. We figured the D902 to Beaufort would fill the bill nicely and it did - in spades. The road is often narrow and the pavement is bumpy in places, but the views towards the Alps in the NE and the peaks surrounding this valley are priceless. You eventually reach a pleasant-looking, ample plateau at elevation 1968m with excellent views all around. From there, the road becomes D925 and winds its way down to the Lac de Roselend and its dam (in the SW corner). There are several bars and restaurants scattered around the lake and the whole area is paradise for bikers, cyclists and hikers.
