“Nice Hotel”
Reviewed 23 June 2014

Very nice hotel, however the staff must speak english or greek in order to communicate with other foreigners except Russians. In the buffet at dinner must have better quality of salads and sweets. Generally the main dishes were good. Nice beach and gardens.

This "All Inclusive" hotel was a big disappointment.
We booked a family bungalow (2+2kids) with the All Inclusive option for 3 nights and paid 700 euros, which we thought was quite good... NOT!
Check in was sort of OK, even though they had not reserved the room we had asked for.
Arriving at the bungalow, we found the room to be clean inside, but the terrace was covered with dead leaves, insects and dirt. We had to call housekeeping straight away.
The "All Inclusive" option allows for dining in only 1 buffet restaurant, which gets extremely boring form day 2. The food was terrible, with almost the same variety every day. Apart from being terrible, the food was also dangerous. I had uncooked chicken on two occasions.
Other that this negative dining experience, the AI option also includes soft drinks and draft beer, a ham and cheese toast, and the "house cocktails" made using no-name inferior spirits, fit perhaps for powering a motor. If you want the original, you have to pay 1/2 price. Even for coffee you have to pay, unless you choose filter coffee.
Overall there is only one other small restaurant, expensive and below average. Not worth it, even if you crave some decent food after day 1.
Most of the staff are Romanian, and don't speak a word of Greek, and very elementary English, polite, but with absolutely no clue of customer service. We were told that they are sent there by a large Romanian agency that supplies cheap staff to large hotels...
Even though I am a native English speaker, I found this to be extremely annoying, as we are in Greece, and many of the guest clearly didnt speak English.
The location is good, the beaches are clean, with enough loungers for everyone, and the grounds overall are maintained well.
The "entertainment" both for kids and for gown-ups is a joke. A bunch of tanned Italians jumping around for 1,5 hours every night, supported by a terrible sound system and cheap props, trying desperately to be funny but failing miserably.
Overall a negative experience, i would definitely not go back and i would most definitely NOT recommend this hotel...

I stayed with my family 4 days in this hotel from 6 to 10 of June. The hotel is very beautiful with extremely beautiful gardens and beaches with crystal water. The food was ok but the situation in the main restaurant was difficult such as the visitors were many and the waiters were not experienced to handle the situation. The animation team was very good especially Leandro and Ivan(i enjoyed the everyday water gym and their shows) and my kids liked them so much. The only negative thing is that very fiew people who work in the hotel speak Greek(We are in Greece!!!)and also their English is very poor.At least everybody is very polite and helpfull!!I will definitely return !

This hotel has fantastic surroundings and the room was sumptuous and quiet (even though we seemed to get bumped out of our "sea view" room), large with a great bathroom. Everything was clean and well kept. The problem was the service. The check in took to long on account of the fact that we went on a three day weekend and reception was struggling to keep up with the arrivals. Still, the staff were polite and after a protracted wait we were whisked off to our lodgings in a golf cart. This place isn't for you if you don't like large resorts. We were half board, and breakfast and dinner were a bit daunting, with long queues and a lot of milling around to see what was on offer (or not). The staff was friendly but distracted, as of they themselves were finding it hard to cope with the hundreds of people. I spoke to them in Greek, but many of them speak English, which was fine. The problem is that they seemed slow - especially in the coffee bars as well as at the Kyvotos Restaurant by the sea - and disorganised. Wi-fi available in common areas but nothing doing in the room. Insufficient toiletries in the bathroom. No dustbin in the room except for the bathroom.

This review refers to May 2014. Unfortunately we are still staying in this hotel...

Let me start with Pros:

1. The resort itself is quite nice. It is very green and well-kept with a lot of opportunities for walking. The beach is very good as well with a clean sand and a lot of available space for sunbathing.
2. The food in the main restaurant is good. Definitely not up to 5* standard but good 4* quality.
3. Kudos to cleaning staff who does a great job.

Cons:

1. Since we are travelling with a 4-year old, good night sleep is very important for us. Unfortunately we didn't get it in this hotel. WARNING to all families who are planning to travel here for the vacation. This hotel caters to large youth / corporate groups. If you get "luck" like we did, forget about normal quiet hours. Let me fully describe what we encountered here. First of all, when booking the room with the hotel (and we did it directly @ barcelo.com), nobody mentioned that a huge corporate event was planned. Nobody mentioned this when we checked in as well. However, 4 days after our arrival to this resort a huge Italian group arrived. My impression was that this was a corporate event. Right from the beginning we noticed decline in service since all of the attention was given to this group. Also there was an unpleasant surprise at the information board notifying us of the new events schedule. This schedule was quite interesting - Evening show from 22:15 to 23, disco at pool bar till 02:00. Well, starting from this very first day there was no escape from the noise and loud music. How would you like to return back to your room after lunch with your kid ready to have a nap and start listening to a very loud rehearsal at the open air theater instead? How would you like not to be able to go to bed until 02:00 due to a very loud show and disco afterwards? To me it is totally unacceptable. I have been to many resorts in Europe and Americas but never encountered such an attitude to the hotel guests. Moreover, you would never expect this from a 5* hotel. I totally understand that May is just the beginning of the vacation season in Greece and the hotels are half empty. I understand that getting a corporate group in these conditions is a luck for the hotel. But was it possible to organize it in such a way that the other guests who paid their money were not disturbed during their vacation? If not, the management should have closed the hotel for the duration of the event for all tourists or at least warn them of the late night events.
2. Couple words to mention about the front office staff. Everybody is friendly and nice but this is it. Nobody is able to help you with your problem. When we first complained about the noise, the only solution that was offered to us was to move to another bungalow. It was a very wise decision from our side to check the location of the "new" bungalow first before moving out. The new bungalow was right by the pool bar! Also nobody seems to know what the current schedule of the animation events is. We contacted 3 different people asking for the information about the current night's events and got 3 different answers. Total incompetence!

Conclusion. Will we come here again? No way... Although my first impression of the hotel was very good. Will I advise anybody to come here? If you like to party all night long , probably yes. If you have a family and come for a family vacation, stay away.

My message to the management. Don't be greedy and start respecting your clients. Otherwise your Tripadvisor rating won't get any better in the nearest future.

Room Tip: It looks like the only way to escape the noise is to stay in suites or the buildings located at the...
