“Moderate Climb, Spectacular View”

Cameron Highlands Trail No. 10
Reviewed 8 July 2014

The entrance is not easily located as it is situated behind an apartment. If not for the locals, it would be hard to find the start of the trail.

The trail was moderate, with certain part of the trail being steeper than other. As such, if you are looking for a leisurely walk, this should not be the trail that you should be taking.

However, the view from the top is great. The top is when you see the high voltage tower. It does offers a great view of Tanah Rata from the top. A simple picnic lunch could also be done at the top as there is not much clearing. However, during rainy seasons, the trail could be wet and slippery and it might be hard to trail without proper footwear.

Entrance is via the main road out of TR through what looks liek a private home and extensive garden! Finding the entrance is tough - there are few signs. It takes 60mins to do (there) and 50 back. Quiet winding walk - often with fallen trees, one peak has a huge pylon on and views of the Horrible New Concrete Developments ripped into the Jungle.. You CANNOT get further than the peak as the way is too overgrown and the end has been redeveloped anyhow.. De[pressing.

The Trail is just average, it brings you to the top of a hill with good view and a big high voltage tower... It's not that retreated, you always hear the traffic noise from Tanah Rata. There are better Trails like No. 7 / 8 / 9.

Walked trail10 today. Significantly easier than trail 3. Like the other reports say, find the trail by walking up past Oly appartments and through Camellia Garden. Keep going up. Nearly at the top when you reach an electricity pylon. Scramble straight up past this and another 15-20m in height takes to you a small clearing with views. Trail 10 continues from the other end of this clearing. There are two paths, take the one to your right. ( Before you scramble up to the pylon the trail also continues around to the right at a lower level, You can follow this for about 50m and see an open space to your left. There is a trail to the summit from there)
From the summit follow the clear trail down. We saw little signage until we saw a marker directing us down to the electric substation which we took.
On arrival at the substation, If you turn right along the side of the fence in about 75m a trail goes off to the right. But is this Trail 11 which is reportedly closed? I don't know.
So we turned left at the substation and walked a narrow path along the upper side of the substation fence and emerged on to the access road. Follow the access road and turn left on to a tarmac road proceeding until you pass the entrances to Hilltop Villa and the weather station. Keep walking on along this road, very boring, past the new workings (power station? appartment blocks) and eventually you emerge in the middle of Tanah Rata by the police station.
I really don't know how the earlier reporter emerged by the 'Healthy Strawberry Farm'.
Total walk time 4 hours including time for picnic lunch.
