Unbelievably friendly, clean and good value. The owner will go out of her way to help you out, even drove us to the bust station in her own car. Her son is also very nice, he showed us the way to the guest house through the rain when we arrived. We were backpacking as I for 10 months and this place is still one of the beat places we stayed.

This place is pure bliss! For those on a long journey through SE Asia, I highly recommend splashing the cash on Gerard's place. It's like being at home. Living room with nice couches, a kitchen for making basic food (C.Highlands food was very disappointing), comfortable bed, and really nice owners. Their tours are a little more expensive than others, but at least with the rafleesia tour we actually got to see one in bloom. Others we met weren't so lucky!

We are traveling through Asia and we stayed in Gerard's while visiting the Cameron Highlands. It is a small apartment and we felt like it was home for the 3 nights we were there. There is a common kitchenette and a living room to relax (and watch world cup games!). The highlights are deffinitely Jay and her son Joshua. They were extremely helpful with EVERYTHING, like recomendations, rides to the bus station, and an excellent source of information about the local culture. So, if you are doubting about it, please don't, stay with Jay, we won't regret it.

On arrival to Tanah Rata we originally intended to stay in Father's Guesthouse, but we were referred here last minute because of full booking (arising from some miscommunication). I believe this is usually not the case since its Gerard's is more highly rated in TA, but for our case our host Jay told us that the entire area around Gerard's had a broken water pipe for a week and we serendipitously happened to be the first guest following the resumption of water supply.

Gerard's Place is located across the Heritage hotel, which is roughly a 5-10 minutes walk from town. Since the slope going up can be quite steep, I would not recommend guests with severe joint pain or disability from considering here. Otherwise the walk should be not pose any difficulty.

The accommodation is a well furnished home constituted by two attached apartments. Our host Jay and her son Joshua were knowledgable about the city and was consistently helpful in preparing guests for their stay. Since the place is somewhat secluded on a hill, the place is conducive to excellent sleep quality with its tranquil environment. The place also has a no noise policy from 10 pm to 8 am, which is a plus for those who sleeps early.

Toiletries are provided except shampoo and body wash, so be prepared to bring your own. There are miniature bar soaps available so that's an option too if you're not too demanding.

The living room has all the entities of a well furnished home (TV, board games, nice couch, etc...) thus it's also a great platform to meet other guests. A free but simple breakfast is provided (toast, jam, tea or coffee). Jay books tours and bus tickets for guests without profit so you can trust her with all types of bookings.

This is an excellent accommodation for everyone especially couples and families.

Gerard Richard does everything necessary plus much more to make you feel at home. Enjoyed every moment of our stay at fathers guest house! Valarie who works at fathers is an absolute darling who will help you with every small request. Very friendly and homely atmosphere. Do do the long trek conducted by Jason Chin, was the highlight of our stay.

Room Tip: The RM100 room is the best if you are traveling as a couple or family.

Gerard's place is worth every penny. It has a homey feel, the rooms are clean, big and comfortable. We felt very at home, also thanks to jay who gives a lot of information about anything you wish. The guesthouse is a little bit out of the city centre, but it's only a 10 minute walk. I'd highly recommend this place.

Genuinely a home from home in the Malaysian hills. Wow, what a great stay. Ok it was a bit windy outside, and something was making a right noise in the wind, but hey, i'm being picky. Really nice building, and lovely interior. Not to mention the rose garden out back. Well located for getting in and around Tanah Rata, and for exploring the amazing Cameron Highlands. Really great tours available from the reception. Overlook this place at your peril.
