We were put in a room (with own shower and toilet) without window to the outside but to the corridor. Though there was no mold visible, it smelled very bad: wet and moldy... Avoid these rooms! This was not a place to sleep in. We were moved to another room with window to the outside (and dehumidifier) the next day, so it was also possible to let some air in over the day. This room was ok, given the price we paid. So, check the room offered carefully and ask for some outside view if booking.
The lodge itself is very nice, nice terasse, and the djungel bar - a good place to meet other people. The lodge is located centrally, but on a quite spot. The staff was friendly, if you ask they give you alll advices you need. The lodge also organizes trips (ask around to know what is worth going to, ) and organizes bus shuttles to a lot of places (we got with them to Langkawi from there). Note that they use mini-busses, so another provider (with 'real busses') would be recommended if you go to places (e.g. KL) that are provided by normal bus companies.

Evrything in the room looks old and rusty. The toilet is definitely dirty as well as the bedsheet. The window were right next to the road so it was extremly noisy. Me and my friend back from starbuck at night around 1130pm and there was no guards AT ALL...its ok for one night but definitely not a goos choice for long stay

The standard of Kang's Traveller Hotel has dropped tremendously. I've stayed there two years ago and I had a great experience. But my latest 2D and 1N stay was a nightmare.

I stayed in a double bed room with attached bathroom. It was raining continuously here in Cameron Highlands. The weather was quite cold. On day one, the water heater was working perfectly. By night time to Day 2 onwards, the water heater is not working at all! To make matter worse, it was spewing out COLD WATER! ARGH!

Second, there's no towel in my room. I call up the front desk about that. The lady manning the desk was clueless and lots of misunderstanding between us. She thought I was requesting an additional towel :( So, I had to ran down and request one. She was trying hard looking for a clean towel whick was locked in a cabinet. She told me she's unsure of the key to the cabinet. You must be kidding me. Alright, I told her
I'll be picking it up later. Miraculously, it she brought it to me minutes later.

Third, I was bitten by some unknown bugs. Itchy all night long = sleepless night. Worst still, the pillows are as hard as stone.

This will be my last stay in Kang's Traveller's Hotel. I might sound harsh, but a disgruntled and sleepless customers is an unhappy client.

Word of advice, check your room first before checking in for the night.

Room Tip: Make sure the amenities are working!

Stayed here in November 2010 with my girlfriend. We decided to go to Tanah Rata on a whim, and booked the "hotel" via the guest house we were staying at in Kuala Lumpur. We booked a tour with the same company (to go see that big flower in the jungle). I have nothing bad to say about the tour, however...

The condition of the hotel was awful. The reception was staffed by, what seemed to be 2 underage shemales. The door to our room was like cardboard. I am not sure if the room was dirty or just plain old. The bathtub in the bathroom was nothing short of nasty, and unfortunately I had to stand in it to take a shower (I REALLY hesitated if it was worth it as I felt I would become dirtier if I took a shower than if I did not).

The room was noisy, mainly because the windows could not be closed properly, and the hotel is right next to the road.

When we went out that night to get something to eat, there was a night watchman downstairs. Problem was he was sleeping when we left and did not notice us. Same thing when we came back an hour later. My girlfriend did not even notice him being there, and only found out afterwards when I made a joke about it! Security through obscurity?

Even if this is the cheapest place in Tanah Rate (and I have no idea if it is), please do yourself a favour and choose another hotel.

I don't normally write reviews but this one is too important. To start, not worth the money, and they don't deserve it.. They don't care about you. Just business. I am photographer and wanted the shot.. I wished I never tried.. It truly was a horrific experience, beyond.

Here are the facts of this:
..Booking it, wasn't told about proper gear need, I don't think he knew what's involved in it. He said plastic shoes ok... NOPE must have true hiking shoes to do this. Overall, didn't prepare us to what lay ahead.. Which is a must going into a jungle.

.. Trails, are not trails and in addition, have to get across a river without secure means... Really scary and unsafe..
..Tour guide, along with staff didn't care to knoW our names.. Just numbers based on accommodations.
..tour guide didn't care about those falling behind, like myself..... Left to walk with a local... Who doesn't speak a word of English... Mind you, the 1/2day hike entails 2hr to get to flower and 2 hour out... So 4 hours not talking and not giving any feedback , or inspiration... Doesn't stop to take water break.. Unless you say so..
.. Caught in rain... It rained for more than half of this.. So the pseudo trails became even more dangerous and impossible to walk carefully... Being told to " be careful" was ridiculous... No way to be careful.... Kids were crying.. So scared.. I was scared
... Results... I was falling and hurting myself, clothes ripped and destroyed.. Soaked to the bone (which when they transported me back to the hostel, the driver had the window down.. With cold mountain air.. Had to request to close... I am lucky I didn't get the flu.. Truly)
Cuts, bruises aches and ego bruised from a tour that i could get only somewhat close to flower as it is on a steep climb impossible to walk on ...
I hate tours, but only way to get to flower...... Don't do this tour... DON'T USE KANG.

Me and my girlfriend originally booked to stay 3 nights here as we were desperate for somewhere to stay having left it late. We left after 1 night due to how poor it was. It's loud all night and morning, very bright in the morning because they have windows shining in from the hall way, the owners kids run around shouting in the morning and the Walls are so thin you can hear them from around 6am! No service to speak of except for offering there own trips around Cameron highlands. Do not stay here, pay more for somewhere to stay in the Cameron highlands, even if you're a budget traveller! We've stayed in some dumps but this was awful compared to most places we've stayed.
