Although most of the good accomodations are fully booked easily in Tanah Rata, we were lucky to arrange a last minute booking at Do Chic In. The homestay is very charming and the two ladies who own it are nice and helpfull. There are only three or four rooms, the rooms are basic but clean and confortable enough. The breakfast is good and we got included a delicious dinner on the second day. Location is also great, five min walk from the center and at the same time quiet and calm.

Hosts Jaycee and Jezzica do a brilliant job together from the moment they welcomed us to their home to the moment they farewelled us 3 days later with packed breakfast for our journey to penang. They have any bit of information organized and available to make your stay efficient and effective. A list of restaurants in town that never failed to disappoint - restaurant lunar was our favourite, and you must try the Hong Kong restaurant for its incredible steamboat. But go hungry ! The rooms were equipped with all that is required and our children especially enjoyed the intimate setting where they could meet travellers from other countries. This is a fabulous home stay experience complete with sumptuous booked breakfasts and delicious Chinese dinner. What a dynamic duo! Oh, and do go to their recommended masseuse in the town - absolutely in incredible and professional. Great place to stay with teenage children - they picked up their game and actually followed the house rules. I hope they bring what they learnt home to Australia!

We stayed here for 2 nights and it was a perfect stay. The two owners helped us a lot with the information we needed to have a great time in Cameron Highlands! Besides that we had a great dinner at this place the two owners specially made for us! The room we had was an average room, nothing special about it but related to the price you have to pay! We really recommend this place! To Jaycee and Jezzica we only have to say: keep up the good work!!!

Regards.

This was my 3rd trip to Cameron Highland. However, it was my first time staying in a home while up in the highlands.

I would say that the atmosphere of the home was great. The host, Jaycee and Jezzica were warm and welcome to us guests and would take the time to explain the different attractions and the good deals we should be going for while in the highlands. They would also go to the extent of helping us to book the tours for the following day. The home was also perfectly situated with the balcony facing a mountain which offers great sunset view.

The home was spotless and was well-maintained. It was a truly comfortable to experience to stay at a hotel standard home for 2 short days. The food that were prepared was also great and it felt very homely.

The most interesting experience would be the opportunity to mingle and chat with the other guests that are also staying in the home. This is something that could not be experienced while staying in the hotel. To be able to chat and share experiences and cultures from people of different countries and races was truly a memorable one. It is a great choice to stay in Do Chic In and i am glad that this place was chosen over the hotels.

What an amazing home stay we experienced at Tanah Rata in the Cameron Highlands last week. My daughter and I stayed for two nights and our hosts Jaycee and Jezzica provided a terrific hosting experience which would be difficult to surpass anywhere. Not only good value, but the homestay was spotless and most welcoming. On our first night Jezzica cooked a Chinese meal which would do any restaurant proud. The next morning a breakfast of pancakes, bananas and strawberries was delicious and well-presented. We were able to make ourselves at home in a very comfortable lounge room where we could relax and watch tv, a kitchen where we could make our own food, tea and coffee if we so desired, and eat in a lovely dining room. We stayed in a twin bedroom and had an adjoining bathroom. The homestay is a ten-minute walk from the town centre. Jaycee was a great source of information for local sightseeing and trails. We walked to one of the local tea plantations, did a three-hour hike through the jungle and ate in the town-centre, which unfortunately is a little bit commercialised for my liking. The morning we left Jezica prepared a breakfast package for us to take with us as we were leaving on an early bus for KL, particularly as we were going down the highlands and on good advice, decided not to eat until we reached the bottom. However, for us, the highlight of our stay was the fantastic home stay, thanks to the generosity and hospitality of Jaycee and Jezzica.

Our family of seven (three generations) stayed for three nights in the second week of June. It was really clean, devoid of dust, and even my mom gave thumbs up for it. Thought the apartment was not new, the hosts put a lot of effort to renovate and put together an utterly lovely, warm and inviting place. It was a place we look forward to coming back each day after our adventures outside, to rest in the cool and yet comfortable lounge and enjoy our cuppa as a family, for a large family like ours with elderly, this home stay was right for us, value for money, and does not lose out in comfort compared to the overly priced hotels in Cameron. It is also in a quiet neighbourhood away from the terrible jams near Brinchang. The hosts clearly took their roles seriously with pride, ,zealously preparing our breakfasts every morning, and sharing much valued advice whenever we needed. While some of the past reviews mentioned them being a bit OCD, I feel that their attention to details is an asset as it means we have a very comfortable and clean stay, and they make sure little details like getting our meals timing right so that we can enjoy hot meals. It's so clean that you can hardly find any mould even in the bath cubicle shower curtain!

When we forgot to bring back my son's medication and supplements, Jaycee even took the trouble to find another Singaporean family willing to bring back to us back in Singapore. It is hard to find hosts or even hotels willing to look into every small details liked that, something I fully appreciate.

We took their advice to visit Brinchang's attractions like the Mossy forest and tea plantations first in huge the morning, as once it approaches noon, the nightmarish traffic jams began all the way towards Brinchang's direction. Perhaps it was the school holiday period of both Singapore and Malaysia, hence the jams. But having took Jaycee's advice, we were happily done with our visits and headed in the opposite direction without qualms. The Mossy forest is a must go- we thoroughly enjoyed the early morning cold misty walk before the sunshine breaks through later in the morning. The way to the forest is not for he faint hearted drivers though with narrow winding roads and lots of rough terrain!

In short, bed and breakfast is a wonderful concept if you find a place with Do Chic, as not just do you get value for money stay, you get wonderful practical tips from hosts who knows the area so well, something you can't get from hotels. And one thing I regretted not doing is to have Jessica Cook more meals for us, so that we can enjoy relaxing dinners in their cosy home without wasting time looking for outside eateries which commonly takes a longtime to prepare and tends to have flies. After all ,Jessica, does serve very delicious food as good, if not better , than most eateries outside!

Room Tip: If you are a light sleeper, may be better to go for the master room which does not have a common toi...

I have never written a review on trip advisor despite having traveled to many countries in the past 3 years. This home stay deserves the praise in it's ability to create an atmosphere of comfort and warmth that I have never seen at any other establishment. The owners are genuinely interested in bringing out the best side of each guest to make a stay where everyone can easily enjoy company and relax.

The food is amazing, not just because of the fresh ingredients and expert skills, but because you get to know the people that cooked it. The sleep you get is peaceful, not just because the bed is comfortable and the air fresh, but because you have talked away your worries with guests and owners that genuinely share a desire to know you.

Staying here is a complete experience that every hotel and home stay should aim to attain. I will be back and can only hope that the establishment enjoys more success than I can imagine.
