The trail starts off nice with good walking paths but after you have passed the Robinson waterfall it gets progressively trickier. We went with trail 9b as it was supposed to be an easier decline, but there were a lot of fallen trees which made it difficult. Towards the end off the trail it got really hard and it also started to rain. Luckily a friendly hiker had put up a sign pointing to an exit as the last 300 meteres were said to be extremely hard in rain so we ended up on a vegetable farm. We took a cab back to Tanah Rata which cost us 20 rm as it was over 10km. Our recommendation would be to just go back once you get to the little metal gate that splits the trail into 9a and 9b.
